It is cabinet-mounted over the electric range, and also provides an exhaust and cooktop light. How to solve the old microwave problem A new microwave oven that gives valuable "microlessons" installs over a conventional on microwave cooking tech- range, replacing the vent hood, niques and is illustrated with answers a long-time consumer hundreds of color photographs, objection to microwave ovens: lack of counterspace. It will combine the venting and overhead light functions of the hood and the cooking func tions of a microwave oven. But, because it is cabinet-mounted, it saves valuable kitchen counter- space. The 30-inch wide unit can be cabinet or wall-mounted over 30 to 40-inch conventional elec tric ranges. GE said a unit for use over gas ranges will be forthcoming soon. The new product was de signed in response to a consist ent consumer objection to microwave ovens, GE said, that being a lack of sufficient coun terspace. TTie company estimated that some 41 million kitchens are suitable for the Spacemaker oven and, of those, more than 36 million do not yet have a microwave. GE predicted that cabinet- mounted microwave oven con figuration eventually will over take the countertop variety. Until the advent of the Space- maker microwave oven con cept, GE said, consumers had to give up counterspace, use a cart or shelf, replace their existing range with a microwave range, or build the microwave into their cabinets. All these options contain drawbacks of one kind or another. But, with the Spacemaker oven, any electric range can be upgraded to a microwave cook ing center. And the consumer doesn't have to lose counter or kitchen space. The Spacemaker offers three cooking power levels, time or temperature cooking options (a temperature probe senses inter nal food temperatures and turns the oven off when temperatures reach a pre-determined level) and a 16-inch wide oven cavity. The unit also comes with General Electric's Microwave Guide and Cookbook which provides hundreds of recipes. AARON IS COMING! SALES: MON.-FR1.9-9 SAT. 9-5 SUN. 11-4 -nmsmsnsss" 4611 W.
