• WEDNESDAY. OCTOBER 17.1»7» Rules requiring special equipment provide that in addition to the stop arm on the driver's side of the bus, all school buses must be equipped with an 8-lamp flashing signal providing a red light to be used while the school bus is-stopped and an amber (caution) light to be used just prior to and just after stopping. The law provides that these visual warnings can be used only when loading or discharging pupils. Buses that carry 17 or more passengers and that were manufactured after July 31, 1976, must have laminated safety glass. All buses must be equipped with fire ex tinguishers and first aid kits. School Safety Depends On Fottowteg the Law To rural folks or those living in smaller towns around the state, the old yellow school bus has always been a familiar1 sight. In recent years city residents have also grown accustomed to the sight of the school bus. What Illinois citizens may not be familiar with is the special body of law surrounding school buses. Special provisions also apfrly to , speed zones established in the vicinity of school buildings. After the service a pot-luck dinner was held with each family sup plying food put on a centrally located table for all to help themselves. Following the noon time meal there was a time of fellowship, baseball, horseshoes, and other games for the children. This was all brought about by the cooperation of each person involved in the preparation. The evening service brought "The Gauger Brass" family in concert to the thcurch for their fourth concert, in the past five years. The family consists of father, mother, six boys and a girl. Each one is an artist in his own right. The boys play several instruments, as well as the father./David, the eldest boy, graduated from Wheaton college, and will continue his studies in music, majoring in the cornet. The service was not all music, but worship of the saviour, Jesus Christ. There were testimonies by the Gaugers, telling of His leading in their lives as they go across country singing for their Lord. The entire day was a blessing to many people and new folks came to fellowship. It is hoped that many were spiritually blessed in this day of ministry. Pastor Gerald Robertson planned for this day some time ago, because of the success enjoyed one year ago with a similar full day service.
