Sparks are making their home in Claymont, Delaware, after a honeymoon trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The former Mona Wheelock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wheelock, Glacier Ridge, McHenry, exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony at the First United Methodist church of Crystal Lake Oct. 6 with Jeffrey Tr Sparks, son of John and Jeanne Sparks, Jr., Middletown, Del. The bride's sister. Lark Syrris, was the soloist, performing "For All We Know" and "Wedding Song". The new Mrs. Sparks is a former resident of McHenry, and her husband is formerly of Middletown, Del. The bride is a Moser graduate and studied political science at North Carolina Wesleyan, where the groom received a BA in math. She is employed as a legal secretary and he, as an actuarial apprentice and pension analyst. Bride Wears Heirloom V Her great-grandmother's garnet necklace adorned the neck of Terri Benson as she approached the altar of Nativity Lutheran church, Wonder Lake, Oct. 20., to ex change promises of marriage with Ronald Talaska. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn W. Benson, 3910 West Oak avenue, McHenry. Mrs. Clare Talaska, Fox River Gifcve, is the mother of the groom. Reverend Ralph J. Smith and Father Andrew Plesa both officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony, and special music chosen by the couple was "Ave Maria", "Starting Here, Starting Now" and "Evergreen", sung by soloist Cathy Dowell. The bride chose a wedding gown of all silk faced ivory satin, featuring alentjpn lace caps at the shoulders and a wide border at the bottom of the gown. Long sleeves and a sweetheart neck with scooped back completed the romantic look. A fingertip veil of alencon lace was held in place by a matching Juliet headpiece. Her bouquet was a loose cascade of eucharist lilies, Waburn Abbey roses, dry baby's breath and champagne miniature carnations. Mrs. Sandra Mereness, sister of the bride, McHenry, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Marlene Benson of Barrington, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Kathy Tessendorf, Madison, Ind., cousin of the bride. Miss Jessica Mereness, McHenry, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Attendants wore quana gowns in china frost, styled with lace bodices and short lace jackets. The flower girl's dress differed in the cap sleeves and the addition of deep bisque ribbons for trim. Attendants carried nosegays of Waburn Abbey roses, pompons in three colors and baby's breath. The best man was Michael Lenz of Cary. Groomsmen were Robert Magnusson, St. Louis, Mo., brother of the groom, and Richard Talaska, Washington, D.C., another brother of the groom. Master Darren Mereness, McHenry, nephew of the bride, carried the ring. Keith Mereness, McHenry, brother-in-law of the bride, and James Benson, Barrington, brother of the bride, were ushers. The mother of the bride chose a soft mauve gown of polyester georgette. A brown polyester jacket dress was the choice of the groom's mother. After the ceremony a reception was held for the couple, attended by 150 guests. Out of town guests came from New York, California, Washington, D.C., Missouri, Michigan and Wisconsin. The bride graduated from St. Francis school of Nursing, Evanston, in 1977, and is em ployed as a registered nurse. The groom is in his senior year of bio-medical engineering at the Milwaukee school of Engineering. The day will begin with the opening of a huge garage sale at 9 a.m. Children's clothing through size 14 will be the primary item in this section. It will be a service to the public as well as a money maker, because the prices will be extremely low. • The Celebrity Auction begins at l p.m. "Some of our celebrities are local, and some are national" says chairperson of donations Holly .Dolan. "We have asked for help from, merchants, {business people, r movie stars, professional atheletes, singers, and politicians. The response has been wonderful." Two of the highlights are an autographed script from "Little House on the Prairie" from Michael Landon, and one from Ed Asner of "Lou Grant". More of the same canpe from stars like Bruce Jenner, Bill Cosby, the Bears, Jack Nicklaus, Loretta Lynn, Sen. Barry Goldwater and numerous others. Local donations have been most generous. Donors have provided everything from a photocopy machine to custom dart board set, gift certificates to a used car. Hot dogs and popcorn will be for sale as well. The PG Activities club is the sponsor for this event. They provide service, volunteers, and funds to help the school. All profits will go toward these functions. Lakeland Club Sets Breakfast The Lakeland Park Women's club is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast Sunday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Lakeland Park Community house, 17,17 North Sunset avenue. The public is most cordially invited, and tickets can be purchased at the door or from club members. The price is nominal, and the menu is complete. The "Lakeland Park Gals" are noted for the very fine meals they serve. The next meeting of the Lakeland Park Women's club will be Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community house, when the hostesses will be Petey Oakford and Vickey Bottari. Women Of The Moose The Women of the Moose, McHenry chapter 1348, met Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Moose lodge. The chapter meeting was brought to order by /senior regent, Doris Low. There was one person to be enrolled, Doris Henken, sponsored by Doris Low. Doris Henken was enrolled in honor of Mooseheart chairman, Carol Budaj. Carol- and her committee served a delicious lunch. The attendance award was awarded to Eleanor Hearle, with the special award going to Marion Vornkohl. There were twenty co-workers present. The business meeting of the ' Women of the Moose, McHenry chapter 1348, took place Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Moose lodge. The business meeting was brought to order by Senior Regent Doris Low. Correspondence was read. The Halloween kids party was discussed. It is Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Moose lodge. There will be games, prizes and refreshments. Co worker Lil Baker is in charge and any help given will be appreciated by co-workers or mothers of children attending the party. The forthcoming Christmas Bazaar was discussed at great length. The publicity, mem b e r s h i p , M o o s e h e a r t , Moosehaven, officers and appointed officers will have special booths and all co workers are asked to give of their time and donations to each booth that it is possible. This outstanding musical comedy has been recognized by critics and audiences alike as Cole Porter's materpiece. Starring in this production is McHenry's Pat Rapach. Pat, who is a registered nurse employed locally, combines music, which has always been an important part of her life, with her career. She can often be found singing to the patients as she makes her rounds with medications or organizing impromptu sing-alongs in the dining room. Everyone in her family loves to sing from her grandparents to her children, Laura, 11, and P.J., 9. Pat began performing at West Leyden high school in Northlake, where she starred in "Annie Get Your Gun". Since then, along with studying nursing at Oak Park hospital School of Nursing, she has sung for weddings, proms, in the 'McHenry County college chorus and the annual Town and Country benefit for St. Patrick's Catholic church in McHenry. Last fall, daughter Laura joined her mother on stage at the Woodstock Opera House in "Annie Get Your Gun". Pat is enjoying creating the challenging dual roles of Lois and Bianca in "Kiss Me, Kate". As Bianca, the lovely younger sister of Kate, she must wait to j marry until Kate has found a jf husband, which is no simple task, for Kate, in spite of her beauty is a shrew, who hates, men. 4 Playing opposite Pat as Bill and Lucentio, is Chris O'Reilly of Crystal Lake. Greg Fruhauff of Fox River Grove stars in the dual roles of Fred Grahman and Petruchio in this play within a play. Starring in the dual leading roles of Lilli Vanesse and Kate, is Virginia Zymonas of Crystal Lake. Members of the cast from McHenry include Jim Hut- chings, who is featured as one of the gangsters. One of Jim's most recent roles was the "Creature" this summer in "Frankenstein", for Lakeside Players. , . Dave Lindquist of McHenry is choreographer for the show and Guy Wendland, seen this summer as Victor Franken stein in "Frankenstein"., is a featured dancer. Guy is also from McHenry.
