Reverend James Segin officiated at the 1 p.m. liturgy. After the ceremony, a reception for sixty-five guests was held at the home of the bride's parents. The newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Wisconsin and are presently making their home in McHenry, where the bridegroom is employed as a dental technician. The LaLeche league groups of Fox Lake and McHenry will meet this week to discuss "Nutrition and Weaning", the final topic of a series of four. Information is furnished by mothers who have suc cessfully . nursed their babies, and an advisory board of medical doctors. LaLeche league and the nutrition committee of the American Academy of Pediatricians recommend only breast milk for the healthy baby until about the middle of the first year. But they encourage the breastfeeding relationship to continue until the baby outgrows the need. They also advise that good nutrition for the whole family means eating a well- balanced and varied diet of foods in as close to their natural state as possible. Second Anniversary During a recent business meeting held at the McHenry Public library, Mrs. Tina Gorski, the newly elected director of the McHenry Birthright Chapter announced plans for celebrating Birthright's second anniversary with an open house for the public Dec. 16. The.- new film, 'Birthright' which depicts the stories of four distressed pregnant women, will be shown and refreshments served. Mrs. Alice Sullivan was elected assistant director, and volunteers expressed their appreciation to the director, Barb Svoboda, for her hard work and dedication in organizing the chapter and directing it for the past two years. •' - •' >" ' Nancy Willard, president of SCOPE, was guest speaker for the meeting. She explained that SCOPE Started as a demand by new parents who had attended Lamaze classes, and wanted ongoing education after coming home from the hospital with their babies. Prepared childbirth classes and the many SCOPE ac tivities for parents and children should be benefitial to Birthright clients. Following the speaker, Susan Grant, member of the Provisions committee, announced that winter baby clothes and blan$£ts are needed, as well as toys and playpens. Included in future plans is a quarterly newsletter which will highlight community members contributing help to Birthright clients. More volunteers are presently needed to staff the office. Set Parenthood Sessions Mrs. Fran Scholpp, R.N., obstetrical department supervisor, wishes to invite prospective mothers and fathers to two "Preparation for Parenthood" sessions at Memorial hospital for McHenry county. The presentations are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. in the hospital dining room. "Early announcement is made now so that parents-to- be can reserve these dates informative Mrs. Scholpp for the sessions," explained. "In previous sessions many fathers-to-be have attended, in addition to prospective mothers. We are very pleased with the in terest in this program," she said. The program is presented by Memorial hospital for McHenry in cooperation with members of the medical staff and - the hospital staff. Each session will include movies and talks, and no charge is in- vovled. The films include "Prenatal Care" and "Labor and Delivery", A member of the medical staff will lead the discussion on those topics both nights. A tour of the , hospital's maternity department will also be included.- v Sessions are also being scheduled for March 3 and 10,1980. Guest Speaker On Hospice The Fish McHenry chapter is an organization of volunteers interested in the welfare of neighbors. At this time of the year Fish prepares "Christmas Sharing" baskets for the needy! The present list in cludes approximately fifty families, but is growing everyday. Hospice is an elective alternative plan of care, voluntarily choosen by the oatient, nis-her family and the physician. The emphasis of Hospice is to provide a climate in which the ter minally ill patient can live as productive and comfortably as possible. The primary objective is to be com fortable, pain free and alert. Hospice creates support and communication for the patient. Mrs. DiFrancesia related interesting ex p e r i e n c e s f r o m h e r i n volvement with the Hospice plan. Mrs. Barbara McCormick, R.N. president, presided over a short business meeting. Two monetary scholarships were awarded to nurses active in con tinuing their education in nursing or a health field. Women Voters League Project Full Meeting RECIPE The Woodstock-McHenry League of Women Voters will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the McHenry County college. The first part of the program will feature viewing of a videotape on the history of the league of Women Voters. This in teresting film was written and produced by members of the local league. Following that presen tation, will be a discussion of league policy, local plans and general facts about the organization. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the league of Women Voters. Kempiners, acting director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, nearly 2,500 pints of potentially hazar dous ether, stored since 1967 at 53 facilities throughout Illinois, were located and destroyed last week. The ether had been kept as part of the Package Civil Defense Hospital system for medical use in disaster situations. By following state health department guidelines, the disposal took place with no environmental consequence. Add 1 '/a cups more* cream. Boil again to 234 degrees. Add another 1 Vi cups cream. Boil again to 234 degrees. Add vanilla (if sugary, add more cream and boil again).
