Do you have a neighbor who keeps his dog on a chain permanently? Perhaps you can give or mail him a copy of this poem by Edith Lassen Johnson. FROM A LONELY DOG I wish someone wOuld tell me what it is that I've done wrong. Why do I have to stay chained up and be left alone so long? They seemed so glad to have me when I came here as a pup. There were so many things we'd do while I was growing up. The Master said he'd train me as a companion and a friend. Dear Colleen Dear Colleen: I am 13 years old and hope you can help me. I blush very easily and most of the time for no reason. I've tried to control this but can't. Whenever a boy speaks' to me or talks to me, I turn red all over. Even if a girl says hello, I blush. I'm okay around my girl friends I've known for a long time, but anyone else I blush. I don't know how to stop turning red. Can you tell me what I can do to control this? Red Dear Red: Blushing is an involuntary response and there is nothing wrong with it except that it is something you don't want to do. You might be able to help yourself by not letting your blushing upset you as this usually makes matters worse. When you feel yourself beginning to get red, try not to think about it. Just tell yourself you are not going to blush. When Thinking of Church, Think First FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH • 509 Front Street McHenry, IL (815)385-0083 Pastor, Marshall E.
