With 13 players this year, in contrast to eight one year ago, Stoner feels the numbers are in her favor. "Last year, the players wejre almost assured of a job because of the small number of players, but this year there is more competition with more people around which is making everyone work that much harder," she reasoned. The Hurricanes will look a bit different on the court this year due to the insertion of new strategies and multiple offenses into the Marian game plan. "The team made a list of things over the summer that we have to improve on such as serves, accuracy, making better percentage shots and developing con sistency as a team," she said. Immaculate Conception is the team to beat accor ding to Stoner. "They have a come-back team which took second in the state last year", Stoner sighed. Other girls competing on the 1980 Hurricane volleyball team include Senior, Linda Aim, 5' 4" from McHenry, and Juniors Debbie Liggett, 5' 7" from Won der Lake, Sherri McAuliffe, 5' 2" from McHenry, Maggie Monson, 5' 2" from Crystal Lake and Jean Thompson, a 5' 6" girl from McHenry. SPIKING THE BALL- should be a strong point for the Marian Central volleyball team Utls«-year because they boast two girls at 5' 10" tall. There are five McHenry girls on the varsity squad this year. They are senior Linda Aim. and juniors Sherri McAuliffe, Julie Nylander, Jean Thompson and Jackie Weber.
