Sunnyside Area Betty Messer 344-2494 Village Gets Welcome Signs Have you noticed the new signs as you enter the limits of the Village of Sunnyside welcoming all to the village? The new signs sure are an improvement over the old ones. They welcome one and all to the Friendship Village. VILLAGE MEETING On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Village of Sunnyside held it's second meeting of the month. Bids are now being ac­ cepted for the coming season forsnow removal. A sign that winter cannot be far away. Discussed at this meeting was the proposed increase in rates that are being asked for by the Sunnyside water company. The proposed increase is quite a sub­ stantial one. Neighboring areas of Pistakee Terrace and Whispering Hills Water companies are asking for the same increase. A meeting was held in Chicago, Sept. 26 with the Illinois Commerce Com­ mission to obtain approval of this increase. A meeting of the Sun­ nyside Zoning board will be held this week. They are being asked to rezone acreage owned by Aldon Thompson of Sunnyside Enterprises for his new shopping complex. The building will house the new Sunnyside Foods as well as several other small businesses. SAUFEN UND SPIEL Rainy weather didn't stop the parade or dampen the spirits for those who at- On Hospital Staff \ Marion Labadie, R.N., has accepted the position of assistant director of nursing services at McHenry hospital, and will serve as a supervisor of the p.m. shift, according to Ron Cooker, R.N., nursing division director. Ms. Labadie is a graduate of the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Louisville, Ky. She was a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit of McHenry hospital until her new appointment. Fossil Program For Gem-Mineral Society The Hiawatha Gem and Mineral society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lake Villa township hall, corner of Grand avenue and Fairfield road. An in­ teresting program on "Fossils" will be given by Florence Kelso, who is very knowledgeable on the subject. Anyone interested in fossils is invited to attend the meeting. For the first time, the Village of Sunnyside was represented in this parade. The Sunnyside Squad along with a second car carrying the Sunnyside Police force took part in the parade. HOSPITAL NOTES Recently admitted to the McHenry hospital were two of the area residents. Mrs. Mabel Zawislak of 1413 Bayview lane was admitted and kept for a few days, due to a bad virus. She was discharged and is now home, though still under the weather. Eric Coris of 1321 Channel Beach was taken to McHenry hospital by am­ bulance when he fell off his bike and suffered a con­ cussion. He was kept for a couple of days for ob­ servation and released. Eric is back to school and doing fine.
