CUB PACK 162 JOHN GRANDT Cub Scout Pack 162 held its eighteenth annual Blue and Gold banquet Sunday, Feb. 8, at the American Legion hall in McHenry. This year's Blue and Gold banquet marks Cub Scouting's fifty-first an niversary. The organization was incorporated in America Feb. 8, 1910, as a movement to sponsor character, citizenship and physical fitness in American youth. This year's dinner began with the Webelos from Den 1 presenting the flags while Brian Fisher led everyone in the pledge of allegiance. After the invocation given by the Webelos, a delicious roast beef dinner was en joyed by parents and Scouts. Everyone was seated at beautifully decorated tables designed by each den. Chairman Dave Hunt began the program by in troducing and recognizing special guests, Mr. and Mrs. Lent and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Smith. Cubmaster John Grandt received a round of applause as he was given a special service award for 14 years of dedicated service to the Cub Scouts. STATE 815-568-7345 The most common form of n i t r o g e n f e r t i l i z e r , anhydrous ammonia, is also one of the most dangerous products used on the farm, said Mrs. Carolyn Lillegard as she announced plans for a safety meeting to discuss "Prevention and Protection- Keys to Anhydrous Am monia Safety." Sponsored by the Farm Bureau Women's com mittee. the meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the McHenry County Farm Bureau building, Woodstock. "People on the farm handling anhydrous ammonia are in danger, but there are many who may be in the vicinity of an accident and should know what to do in an emergen cy," she explained. An Indiana study shows that all victims surveyed were familiar with the operation of anhydrous ammonia equipment and were aware of its dangers. "People too often disregard safety precautions, so we want to review prevention steps along with cautions to follow when around anhydrous ammonia," said Mrs. Lillegard. John Scott, safety specialist with the country companies, will present the program. A chili lunch will be served at no cost, and Mrs. Lillegard said reservations "would be helpful in plan ning but are not required." THINK FISH What is a food tasting, nutri tious alternative to the usual meat-and-potato dinner? Fish, of course. Fish is a high protein, versa tile food that can be easy on the waistline and the budget. It can be prepared in * multitude of ways and is perfect for serving to families, special guests and particularly, dieters. In the supermarket freezer, the "pick of the catch" is avail able at your fingertips year- round. The fish has been cleaned, cut and quick-frozen within hours of being caught. Tlye freezing process locks-in nutri ents that might otherwise be lost during shipping and storage. The product from the freezer is also 100 percent edible; yop don't pay for waste, such a* bones, heads or tails. Frozen fish fillets -- perch, cod, sole and mackerel, to nam* a few -- are always in plentiful supply. The fillets can be fried, poached, baked or broiled. Fla vor them with bread crumb*', lemon, tomato sauce, oregano, chervil or tarragon. WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN LEARNIN6 ABOUT LIFE? ntOM HERE OR HERE -- SERVICES /£>.sr 10 A.M.
