Since his graduation he has been pastor of churches in Adair and Pryor, Oklahoma, Wolcottville. Spring Green III, an open house at the agriculture department of McHenry County college, is the perfect family activity to kick off Family Week in McHenry county. The third annual open house will run from 10 a m to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, with a variety of exhibits designed to help local residents with gardening, landscaping, and floral design questions as well as to acquaint them with the agriculture program. There will be several new features at the open house this year. A plant doctor will be on hand to help diagnose diseases in woody plants for those who bring in a cutting. There will also be an outdoor display of 28 dif­ ferent types of groundcovers that are being planted through a special plastic mesh designed to control erosion. The display, financed jointly by the college and Midwest Groundcovers, is the ideal way to compare ground- covers for your landscaping uses. Another new feature this year is the group of 10 beehives that the college has set up as part of its beekeeping course. Students working with agriculture program coordinator Don Barrett will give tours of the outside facilities including the stone retaining wall built by Barrett and his students last fall. MCC's grape vines, turf grass plots. no-till techniques on corn and soy bean fields and on a vegetable garden, the MCC orchard, landscaped areas, a native prairie grass area, nursery area, flowers and shrubs, bulbs and wild- flowers and the groundcover display. Barrett 's soils and agriculture chemistry students have prepared indoor displays on weed control, fertilizer and nutrition studies, and care of different plants in different environments Again this year the open house will also include some displays sponsored by in­ dustry in the agriculture production and agriculture business area This year they will include the beekeepers association.
