Ring wood Newt Doris Low Katy Christopher 653 9262 385-8037 Set Sewing Work Day The ladies will meet in the home of Mary Butler Thursday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. Co-hostesses will be Mabel Thomas and Flora Carr. ENJOY BUS TRIP Even though the weather was threatening when 32 people cjimbed aboard the bus at Ringwood church May 14, it didn't spoil a very enjoyable day for all. The Domes were lovely with tropical plants, cacti and spring-summer flowers. The outdoor gardens wer$ not planted so we missed them. Those who had toured the public museum while it was still housed in the Milwaukee Library building, were very impressed with the new facilities in their own building. Many new exhibits had been added with much more space given to some of the old exhibits. It seemed that all cultures of the world were exhibited with a very extensive display on the American Indian. For all the walking that was done, the escalators in the museum were really appreciated. As an added bonus, we drove through Whitnall park to see the beautiful flowering trees, lilacs and beds of tulips. It was a lovely sight. CELEBRATE FORTIETH Paul and Althea Walkington attended the fortieth anniversary celebration for Ted and Dora Koaistra last Saturday evening in Darien. Dora Anderson and Ted Koaistra were married May 21, 1941, in the Ringwood United Methodist church, and now live in Sharon, Wis. The Anderson family lived in the house where the John Klapperich family presently live. We wish the Koaistras many more happy years together. INFANT BAPTIZED During services Sunday morning at Ringwood United Methodist church, the infant daughter of Terri and Jerry Rigsby was baptized by Pastor Gordon Smith. Sponsors for little Rachael Amanda Rigsby, born Dec. 14, were her uncle and aunt. Raymond and Sanftra Rigsby of McHenry Shores. Rachael wore the same baptismal gown worn by her brothers and sister-Richie, Russell and Rebecca. Also present for the ceremony were Rachaei's grandmother, Eileen M. Huber, and great- grandmother, Eleanor M. White, of Arlington, Va. Later in the afternoon, the family attended Fair Did- dley at Woodstock to watch Ritchie perform with the gympasts. ACTION GROUP The Ringwood Action group met at the church Wednesday, May 13 with 15 local residents present and two past residents who are interested in helping with the history of Ringwood. They brought several pictures fo the group to Oh and Ah about and remark that it seems impossible that Ringwood used to be a shopping center for people as far away as Belvidere. There were several local concerns brought up and discussed but nothing concrete came of any of it at this time. The big project was the beautification of the park and that was ac complished Saturday, May 16, with several of the local residents participating in mowing and cleaning the lawn and planting plants, bulbs and flowers in the corner of the park. A new United States flag and new Illinois flag has been acquired for the flag pole. There were also pine trees donated, and money for whatever little expense there might be. We will behearing more from this group and hopefully they will come up with a suitable name rather than just the Area Action group. There will be another meeting in June and it will be announced by way of this column and by word of mouth. • » Karen Badlewich will be keeping us in touch wwith an article at least once a month. 20% Discount For Families Summer Program Will Include •PiANNB) ncu> TMK *HOT MiAU •art Acnvrrws •fuu day • % bay cam •2 yrs • 12 yrs *OPlN 4:30 am -4:00 pm A Kinder Care REMSTH NOW Thru June 5 and get 2nd WEEK FlU CALL 3444970 S213W.
