PAGE 8 - PLAINDEALER • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24.1981 Girl Scouts At Moraine Hills More than 250 girl scouts and leaders from Valley View school took part in a week-long day camp held at Moraine Hills St^fePark, south of McHenry. Hie girls, who ranged in age from first to eighth grade, took part in a number of activities throughout the week. Face painting and the art of mime were among the activities undertaken during the day camp. On Thursday, the young scouts took part in a "Circus In The Sun," which was visited by a couple of clowns, replete with clown attire. Each day, the girls learned songs, made a number of different crafts, cooked their meals and took nature hikes, according to scout leader, Sharon Schramm. Friday was the day set aside for the Olympics, in which the girls took part in a variety of athletic events. Following the Olympics, a flag ceremony was held on a small rise and awards were presented to those scouts who earned them. The annual, week-long day camp has been providing learning and fun every year for about the last 15 years, according to a number of the scout leaders.
