Many' people expressed an interest in such an action and ' promised to help. When Saturday, Jjune 27, the date set for the first work session, came around, 11 x people showed up, Howard Alton, Dominick Geraci, Al Kapp, Bill Keen, Ray LaFrancis, Howard Lexow, Ray Stojanic, Terry Tobeck and Walter "Had" Wilson, as well as the two members of the Roads commission mentioned above. These men worked un­ tiringly all Saturday mor­ ning, and it was beautiful to see people working together for the good of everybody. Even some who could not help in the roads, gave their assistance, among them Dorothy Rodiak who brought out refreshments and thus earned the workers' gratitude for her kindness. There will be another "Fix-It" day Saturday, July 11, and it is to be hoped that even more volunteers will show up. A lot of work needs to be done, and your help is desperately needed. The village of McHenry Shores has received a lot of bad publicity lately. Now let us show everybody that we can stick together, work together and improve our village together. VILLAGE NEWS There are several unrelated items of news that have not been reported yet in the paper. I believe they are of interest to everybody who lives in the village. The Board of Local Im­ provement met June 25. This was to be a continuation of the Road Assessment hearings which made headlines two and three months ago. The meeting consisted of a roll call and a motion to adjourn to Oct. 15. The motion was accepted. The police committee recommended to the Board of Trustees that the 4-wheel drive vehicle now belonging to the village be sold. Names were submitted for the Planning Commission, but the appointment has not yet been signed. Dorothy Bangle was named citizen represen­ tative of the Finance com­ mittee. Arrangements were made to start payments to the former village attorney, David Rogers. Mr. William Cowlin of the law firm Cowlin, Cowlin & Ungvar- sky, has been named new village attorney. Let me remind you once again that the meetings of the Board of Trustees take place every second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The next one is July 14. Please plan to be there.
