McCullom Lake Dawn Miller 385-4901 Looking For ESDA Helper The/first village board meeting of the month was held Tuesday July 14, at 8 p.m. Our ESDA coordinator, Gene Frost, is still looking for an assistant. It's all .volunteer work, which is minor, and for the good of the village in Case of an emergency or disaster. We hope that there is some good soul out there who is willing to help. If so, give Gene a call at 385-3465 or you can call me. As most of the youth know by now, the raft is in the . water, and already is being abused. The raft is to sit or lie on, or to divfe off of; not to tip over or tiyJo, as many of us have witnessed. All it takes is one tap on someone's head in the water and serious complications may follow. I don't know if all the parents know this, but they are responsible for their children under 18 years of age. I would hope that any adult witnessing these wrong doings would stop them, or at least report them to the ' police or any village official. MERRY-GO-ROUND REPAIRED Bill Cross rebuilt all the boards on the merry-go- round which resulted in a lot of happy children and parents in the community. BOWLING NIGHT - On Wednesday July 8, ten ladies enjoyed an evening of bowling at a local alley. It J was the Beach Gals' annual bpwling night. Pat An derson, the club's social chairman, was the high bowler of the night, and Peg Loewe, the club's vice- president, was the low bowler that evening. The third game was scotch doubles. The winners of that game were Joanne Weisenberger and Donna Gates for ihe high and Cindy Martini and Carol Krumsee tor low. After playing those games, the ladies topped the evtning off with pizza. GET WELL WISHES Dave Weber, who serves the village's planning commission, was recently hospitalized. He is one of our dearest senior citizen residents, and we are letting him know that he is in our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. BASEBALL Little league baseball is coming to an end now with the playoffs and the all-star game. I have two sons in league ball. Shawn plays on the Minor team Robins and was picked for the 11-year- old all-star game. Ryan plays on the Mini team Brewers and was picked for the 8-year-ol all-star game. Needless to say, I am very proud of them both. I know that all of us parents are proud of our little leaguers and have enjoyed watching our children play ball all sum mer long. And we didn't even miss the professional ball games! BIRTHDAYS Birthday wishes go this week to Valerie Walter, turning nine on July 23; Lynn Kloeckner, July 24; and John Rieter, July 25. Rather than accepting a salary for a job that needs to be restructured in order to be viable, and because of family preference, I have decided to resign as lieutenant governor, effective Aug. 1, 1981." The Illinois Con stitution includes no provision for replacing a lieutenant governor who leaves office before his term exDires. The programs and projects handled by the lieutenant governor's office are expected to be taken over by other government departments. Sunday, July 19, found the city beach crowded with spectators as they viewed the Water Ski Spectacular presented by the Wonder Lake Water Ski club. During intermission, a boat parade co-sponsored by Korpan's Landing Yacht club and McHenry Chamber of Commerce thrilled the crowd with their decorations in keeping with "Our Riverfront Heritage". There were plenty of brats, hot dogs, funnel cakes and corn-on-the-cob for the hungry. The hot weather was good for the sale of soft drinks and beer. Utilizing improved concepts of patient- centered environment to make the new medical center the place of choice for individuals and families requiring care, will assist us in our cost contain ment efforts. History has shown us that rates charged by prop-* erly utilized medical facilities do not rise as fast as those charged by under-utilized facilities. With a new medical center, more peo ple will seek care in the area and will not fi^ve to travel costly miles. •Karl Berning State Senator Illinois State Senate Springfield, III. 62706 •Betty Lou Reed State Representative Stratton Building Springfield, III. 62706 •Jill Zwick State Representative Stratton Building Springfield, III. 62706 •Donald Deuster State Representative Stratton Building Springfield, III. 62706 j
