It was announced that those interested in joining a couples gourmet dinner "mini club" entitled, "Les Gourmets", should contact the new chairperson, Pat Cline. Future club program topics include a speaker from a pottery firm on Tuesday, Oct. IS and a 'Silent Auction' Tuesday, Nov. 10. The monthly morning coffee will take place the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Epsicopal church, off Green street, in McHenry. McHenry Birthright Needs Volunteers And Furniture At a recent McHenry Birthright meeting, director Tina Gorski welcomed new volunteers. She stressed, though, that more phone volunteers are needed. She emphasized a need for baby furniture, especially cribs, high chairs, etc. Plans are being made for the annual October Rose sale to be held at area churches. Other fund raising events are being formulated by Darlene Heim, Fund Raising chairman. Mrs. Gorski announced the success of the Birthright booth at the Mcijenry County Fair. Over 1500 helium balloons were given away and volunteers en joyed meeting the hundreds of people who stopped by the booth. The 10th annual In ternational Birthright Convention held in Toronto, Canada was attended by Mrs. Gorski and Mrs. Florence Welter. Among the prominent speakers was Dr. T. R. Verny, psychiatrist, who spoke on the importance of * bonding between the mother and her pre-born child. Regis Walling, herself adopted at five months of age, spoke on the current adoption situation. Dr. Eugene Diamond, professor of Pediatrics, Loyola university, spoke on the casualties of the sexual revolution. Another prominent and inspiring speaker was Father Paul Marx. In late August Birthright volunteers and their families gathered together for a picnic at Terry Widhalm's home. There was lots of food and fun for everyone. The Speaker's bureau has been active and Mrs/Gorski is asking that any committee chairmen who are interested contact Birthright and speakers .will come and explain the work Birthright does. This meeting is open to the public. The meeting will feature Mary Fetzner and Barb Bryant speaking on the topic of "Early Childhood Learning Experiences". They will include subjects such as creativity and play, TV and its effects on children and making children feel good about themselves. Both Barb Bryant and Mary Fetzner were elementary school teachers who received a grant from the federal government to develop an eight-week program of things to do with children that don't pressure the child and don't cost much money. Their program also includes things that will £ve the child a good start in school. Bbth women are also mothers of preschoolers. The Childbirth and Parenting association is an fer support, information and an educated approach to childbirth and parenting. To accomplish this goal, C.P.A. offers programs which feature speakers on subjects dealing with the many aspects of birth and parenting. Other services offered by C.P.A. include discussion groups for new moms, moms of tots and w o r k i n g m o t h e r s , preschoolers playgroups, children's parties and a bimonthly newsletter. September marks the beginning of C.P.A.'s year and this will be the first meeting of the season. There will be a rap session after the guest speakers have concluded. This is a good time to meet new friends and to share ideas and concerns. C.P.A. would like to invite anyone who is interested to attend. One need not be a member to do so. Schau-Parenti Repeat Vows In Westchester In the presence of Father Barrett the former Susan Schau and Gary Parenti repeated their wedding vows Sept. 12, in Divine Infant C a t h o l i c c h u r c h , Westchester, 111. Special music at the 3 p.m. nuptial was Schubert's "Ave Maria" sung by Sandi Schau. In addition to the Mass, other selections provided by the bride's girlfriend, Rosemary Rachmaciez and her guitar group included "Prayer of St. Francis" and "Wedding Song". At the conclusion of the vows, the bridal couple presented their mothers with . white silk roses as tokens of their love. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schau, 7412 E. Northwood drive, Wonder Lake, 111. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parenti, 1 9 2 0 B u c k i n g h a m , Westchester, 111. are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride wore a gown of chantilly lace, embellished with pearls embroidered on the neckline, and a lace Bertha bodice. Tiers of lace ruffles, flowing into a chapel length train were swept with venise lace. Her pearl embroidered blusher veil was edged with chantilly lace and, following the tradition of 'something old', she was wearing her grandmother's gold locket. To complete the picture, she carried a nosegay bouquet of roses and carnations. Attending her sister as maid of honor was Sandi Schau of Wonder Lake. Bridesmaids were another sister, Sharon Schau of Richmond, 111.; a sister of the groom, Leslie Parenti of Westchester; and friends of the bride, Cathy Eiseman of Buffalo Grove, 111. and Susan Hendricks of Wonder Lake. Attendants were attired in ice blue, polyester knit gowns designed in a semi- sheer frosted print. The overlay blouse was accented with soft shirring at the shoulders, secured with drawstring bows, forming a draped cape effect. The fully pleated skirt was elasticized at the waist and adorned with a self corded sash. They carried nosegay bouquets of blue and white carnations and matching headbands graced their hair. Handling the duties of best man was Kurt Haidl of Los Angeles, Calif. Groomsmen were cousins of the groom, Ron and Victor Lazzeretti of Glen view; the bride's brother, Steve Shau of Wonder Lake and a friend of the groom, Paul Szustowski of Hillside, 111. The mother of the bride chose a floor length, peach lustrous polvester knit gown with capelet sleeves, a slightly gathered, standup collar and attached blouson overlay and a flared skirt. A dusty blue chiffon, floor length gown featuring a soft cowl neck, long sheer sleeves and a flared skirt was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held for 170 guests at Imperial West in Elmhurst, 111. Upon their return from a honeymoon in Las Vegas and LO6 Angeles, the newlyweds will reside at 4528 S. Elm street, Brookfield, 111. The new Mrs. Parenti graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1975 and Northern Illinois university in I960, She is presently employed by Chicago Title and Trust Co. as a computer programmer- analyst. Her husband, a 1976 graduate of Proviso West nigh school and a 1980 graduate of the same university, is a financial analyst for A.M. International, Schaumburg, m. New Moms Group Meets To Discuss Parenting The New Mom's Discussion group will meet Monday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. The group, which strives to help mothers deal with all of their new responsibilities, is open to all new moms. The ^iew Mom's Discussion group offers mothers and their babies a time and place to come together and share the positive and negative experiences of parenting and to discuss the feelings that accompany motherhood during the baby's first year.
