Yiilag^fficHenrnSorej Nina Keen 344-2665 TWENTY-FIVE YEARSAGO (Taken from the files November 6, 1956) of One of the most exciting elections in the history of our country was followed by millions of Americans via television and radio as they saw President Dwight D. Eisenhower reelected by an overwhelming majority. Republicans had less to make' them happy in senatorial and congressional races, where the balance of power, with most contests decided, seemed to be with the Democrats. In Illinois many observers blame the recent Hodge scandal for the very close race which nearly lost Governor William G. Stratton his governorship and veteran Everett R. Dirksen his Senate seat. However, after early returns indicated their possible defeat, downstate votes began pouring in and the early hours of Wednesday it was quite evident that both would emerge victorious. CPR CLASS Memorial hospital, Woodstock, is offering a public CPR class Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria at no charge. To register, call 338- 2500, Extension 217. DRAINAGE WORK * The village is attempting to improve our drainage problem by working on the culverts and it is being done on a priority of need basis. The work that is being done is on the approximately 15 feet easement off the edge of the road, which is part of the village right of way. The village will attempt to make culvert repairs on a time permitting basis. If work is being done in your immediate area, and you have any plants, trees, or ornamental bushes in the ditch line or at the culvert ends, please remove them if you wish to salvage them.
