Matousek, 83, a resident of McHenry for the past 22 years, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, at McHenry hospital. > She was born in Chicago Oct. 21, 1898 and had been a member of Our Lady of Good Council Lodge No. 32 since 1935. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Delores) Smak of Inglesjde; a sister, Frances Pekar of Ingleside; one granddaughter and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Pekar. Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the K.K. Hamsher funeral home, Fox Lake. A Funeral Mass was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Johnsburg, with burial in St. Adalbert's in Niles, 111. „ CHARLES GATES, SR. Charles M. Gates, Sr., 58, of Sandwich, 111., formerly of McHenry, died Saturday, Oct. 31, at Copley Memorial hospital in Aurora. He was born Dec. 3, 1922, at Austin, Minn. Mr. Gates was employed at the Mor-Am Agricultural Chemicals for 20 years, in charge of field research throughout the United States. He was a member of the Episcopal church, and he had been a lay reader in California and Georgia. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, he also graduated from the University of Miami, Fla., where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and was a veteran of WW II, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors are his wife Margaret E. (Cowan) of Sandwich ; two sons, Charles M., Jr. of Abingdon, 111. and Robert H. of Victoria, B.C.; one daughter, Catherine E. Gates at home and two grandsons Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Flora Ouren, H.T.N. Graves and Mrs. Holt Maloney, both of Luray, Va.; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Gates, Merritt Island, Fla. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. David's Episcopal church in Aurora with Father John McAdams officiating. Arrangements were handled by Dieterle Memorial home, Aurora. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Garden of St. David's Epsicopal church. LYNN PETERSON Lynn Peterson, 85, of McHenry, died Saturday, Oct. 31, in McHenry hospital. She was born in Chicago Nov. 3, 1895, and had been a McHenry area resident for the past 32 years, formerly of Chicago. Mrs. Peterson was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Johnsburg many years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anton (Lois) Weber of McHenry; four grandchildren, Mrs. Kevin (Lynn) Bauer of Ringwood, Mrs. Peter (Deborah) Braden of McHenry, Mrs. Art (Sheryl) Meyer of Lake Villa and Tony Weber of McHenry; and two great­ grandchildren, Steven and Chad Bauer of Ringwood. Funeral services were conducted Monday at K.K. Hamsher funeral home. Fox Lake, with interment in the Ridgewood cemetery. ROBERT EVENHOUSE Robert Evenhouse, 61, died Monday, Oct. 26, at his home. He was a resident of Fox Lake the past 20 years formerly of Chicago. Born in Chicago Jan. 3, 1920, Mr Evenhouse was a veteran of WW II, serving the* U.S. Army Air Force; belonged to VFW Post 1583, Chicago; and had been the co-owner of Newhouse Audit Surveys, Chicago, for the past 20 years. In addition to his wife Eileen Evenhouse of Fox Lake, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Buccelli of McHenry; his mother-in- law, Peggy Barnes of McHenry; and one grandson Thomas Buccelli of McHenry. He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Evenhouse, Funeral services were held Thursday in the K.K. Hamsher funeral home, Fox Lake. Interment was Brainerd, Minn.; Mrs. private. Award Contracts For Two Highway Projects Contracts have been award® for two highway projects in McHenry county, the Illiribis Department of Transportation has an­ nounced. One is a $30,605 contract for the installation of traffic barrier terminals as a safety feature at the center pier for the Chicago and North Western railroad structure on Route 14, south of Crystal Lake. The other is a $9,674 contract for the placement of thermoplastic pavement marking on Route 14 at Route 22. , The road will not be closed to traffic for either project. Glaze Construction Co., Algonquin, awarded the contract fdr the traffic barrier terminals, is ex­ pected to begin work Dec. 22. Completion is anticipated by June 30, 1982. A C. Pavement Striping Co., Des Plaines, awarded the contract for the pavement markings, is expected to complete the job by Nov 15. In the case of both projects, motorists are cautioned to be alert to barricades, warning signs, lights and contractor's equipment.
