NOVEMBER «. 1W1 oyw in tradition * * £ TANKARDS OF WASSAIL prepared with orange-and- spice flavored Constant Comment tea base and a bobbing of baked apples make a festive drink for holiday entertain ing. Wintertime in olde England found the merrie Elizabethans toasting each other with mugs of hot, spicy wine from the Wassail bowl. It was a'custom borrowed from the Saxons who drank the hearty potion amidst shouts of "Waes Hael"-- good health! Down through the years, wassailing or merrymaking became a cherished Yuletide tradition. Groups of carolers went a-wassailing, singing from house to house in return for a warming cup of the golden wassail. Today the Wassail Bowl is a friendly way to provide cups of good cheer for midwinter entertaining. Start off with the distinctive base of Constant Comment, the unique orange- and-spice-flavored tea that s a favorite with all ages. Mix it with a choice Ma deira wine, mellowed with sugar, well-beaten eggs and a measure of brandy Float sev eral baked apples on top to resemble the wassail from days of yore. More than almost any other drink, hot tea seems to wrap up the coziness of winter in one steaming cup.
