OCTOBER13.1982 A new swimming program for the public is being offered at McHenry West high school by McHenry County college this fall. The complete program includes swimming lessons on four levels, as well as a conditioning swim class and an aqua aerobics class. The swimming classes will run Saturdays from Oct. 23 - Dec. 18, with sessions at 9-9:50 a.m., 10-10:50 a.m. and 11-11:50 a.m. The levels are' beginner, advanced beginner, in­ termediate, and swimmer. Students will automatically be advanced as they progress in ability. There will be a maximum of nine students per instructor and the minimum age is four years old. Conditioning swimming will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 19- Dec. 16, 7-8 p.m. Aqua aerobics will meet the same dates at 8-9 p.m. Registration is being taken at West campus Saturday, Oct. 16,9 a.m. to 1 6m. After that date, registration will ; taken at McHenry County college through Oct. 20. Ask Farm ASC Nominations Farmers are asked to nominate candidates of their choice to be on the ASC community committee ballot, says Susan A. Maraccini, McHenry county executive director. The ASC community committee election will be conducted from Nov. 26 to Dec. 6 by mail ballot. The eight ASC communities in McHenry county are Alden-Hartland, Algonquin- Nunda, Chemung-Dunham, Coral- Seneca, Dorr-Graf ton, Greenwood- Hebron, McHenry-Richmond and Marengo-Riley. ASC committees are responsible for managing government farm programs on the local level. To meet the needs of individual farmers, ASC committe members must be con­ cerned and responsible individuals, Maraccini said. McHenry county farmers have the opportunity to nominate persons they feel would best serve the farm community. Farmers have received petition forms by mail and are now submitting them to the county ASCS office. A few basic considerations should be kept in mind when circulating petitions, Maraccini said. In order to be valid, petitions must be limited to one nominee each, must include written certification that the nominee is willing to serve if elected, must be signed by at least three eligible farm voters in, the ASC community, and must be received in the county ASCS office no later than Nov. 1. Farmers may circulate or sign nominating petitions for as many candidates \as they choose. Anyone wishing to nominate a farmer for the ASC committee election may contact the county ASCS office for full details, including eligibility requirements for office holders. "Farmers should petition for and elect those individuals they feel would do a good job as a member of the ASC committee. The election of concerned farmers to positions on ASC com­ mittees is essential in the ad­ ministration of farm programs," Maraccini said. Maraccini further explained that the county ASCS office welcomes all valid petitions. The opportunity to nominate, vote, and be elected to of­ fice is guaranteed to all farmers regardless of race, religion, sex, age, color, or national origin. College Honors Former MCC Students In Area Graduate From NIU Northern Illinois university officials recently reported that 25 former McHenry County college students successfully completed baccalaureate degree requirements and graduated in spring 1982. In addition to preparing students for eventual transfer and completion of a bachelor's degree in their choice of field, McHenry County college also offers a wide range of more specialized technical programs which mc designed primarily to prepare graduates for immediate em­ ployment.
