Father Brantman states, "The purpose of the new council will be to foster within the Marian community those gospel and value-related ac tivities to which the school philosophy and the Catholic church at large is committed." Father sees the council as an important addition tr> Marian and plans to work with the council to- propiote a broader involvement in Christian activities. Father Brantman plans to visit all the Marian supporting parishes and to maintain contact with the pastors of those parishes. p In addition to his assignment at Marian, Father Brantman is the pastor of St. Patrick church in Har- "tland. Brantman is the new director of Regligious Studies and spiritual director and assistant principal at Marian Central in Woodstock. He comes to his position with administrative and teaching experience from various other diocesan schools. Father Brantman's background , includes a degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham college, Chicago, and he pursued a career in that area until he commenced his religious studies. In 1975 he was ordained after complet ing his studies at Pope John XXIII National seminary near Boston. Father Brantman has a Master's degree in Divinity and also in Education (supervision and ad ministration). He is a native of Mundelein and a graduate of DePaul academy. Father Brantman begins his new directorship intending to build on Marian's existing program. He is "concerned about investigating all aspects of the religious program - from classroom to student par ticipation at the parish level." 0 He views "the school as an ex tension of the parishes in a strict spiritual sense as well as in an educational sense." Father strongly feels that without parish and family support, Catholic schools will have great difficulties, but that with such support much can be accomplished in the area of faith. Father Brantman stated that toward the realization of this ideal. The shortest lived U.S. coin was the twenty-cent piece, issued regularly only in 1875 and 1876. They were too easily confused with quarters. The largest bat on earth is called a flying fox. Its wingspread ranges from two to five feet, and its hairy body may be as much as a foot long.
