Activities start at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. An auction of prizes donated by merchants from throughout McHenry county will take place at 11:45 p.m. Bridge players are scheduled to begin regular contract bridge in room 121 at 3:30 p.m. and play until 10:30 p.m. to accumulate points for prizes. Circle Sets November Meeting Thg meeting of the Marcia Jfcffery Ball Circle will be held Tuesday, ^ Nov. 2, at noon, in the parlor of the First United Methodist church, and Betty Fairchild will be the hostess. Members are requested to bring a sandwich, and the dessert and beverage will be served. At that meeting, reservations will be taken for the Annual Christmas Luncheon Party. Lyda Radisch will be the hostess and reservations must be made in advance for the catered luncheon. Lyda Radisch was hostess, assisted by Mary Rose, when the group met for its October meeting in the church parlor. All members participated in the devotionals which were read from the Guideposts Daily 1982 Reader. Cards were signed for absent members and current activities were discussed, particularly the annual Fall Bazaar and Christmas Sale on Friday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests and new members are always most welcome at circle meetings the first Tuesday of each month, starting at noon in the church parlor. .Shamrock Club Slates Dinner MARK HANSEN AND TRUDY KOCH ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT - Max and Shirley Koch, 1508 N. Flower street,* McHenry, announce the engagement of tbeir daughter Trudy to Mark Hansen, son of Martin and Dena Hansen, 1021 Wisconsin street, Lake Geneva, Wis. The bride elect graduated from Marian Central Catholic high school in 1980. The future bridegroom is a 1976 graduate of Badger high school in Lake Geneva. A Sept. 10, 1983 wedding is being planned. Members of the Shamrock club of Twin Lakes will share in a festive buffet dinner j>rior to their general membership meeting Oct. 26. A huge variety of delectable dishes, prepared by Shamrock club members, will please the palates of all members attending this event. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. at St. John's Community center in Twin Lakes. A short business meeting will follow. Entertainment for this gala evening includes an Irish sing-a-long. In addition, soloists Genevieve Dooley and Don Butler will treat the audience with individual medleys of Irish ballads. MR. AND MRS. RALPH BAYER SEPTEMBER WEDDING - The former Cassandra Anette York and Ralph C. Bayer exchanged promises of marriage Sept. 18. The Reverend Roger W. Schneider officiated at the 11 a.m. nuptials in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, McHenry. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin B. York, 2906 W. Bull Valley road, McHenry. The new Mrs. Bayer is a 1978 graduate of McHenry Community high school; graduated from McHenry County college in 1980; attended Northern Illinois university in DeKalb and is employed by a medical supplies company in Marietta, Ga. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR Transfiguration Mother's Club Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Old Church Hall, 311 Mill, Wauconda. Handcrafted ornaments, wreaths and many unique gift and decorating ideas will be available. C.&P.A. Holds Babysitting Clinic A Babysitting Cljftic, sponsored by the Childbirth & Parenting Association of McHenry County, will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the McHenry Public Library, Main and Green streets. It will cover first aid, care of bottle and breast-fed babies, special activities few children, safety, decision making, etiquette and a babysitter's checklist. A snack, free brochures and certificate of completion will be included in the program. , The clinic is limited to 30 students who are in the fifth grade or above and a small fee will be charged. The event will take place at the Hemmens auditorium in Elgin, I1L and tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance from members. The October meeting of the U.M.W. Mission Team (Executive committee) was a very busy one, with many important items on the agenda. The Annual Fall Bazaar and Christmas Sale to be held Friday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., was discussed in detail and final (dans nearly completed. In addition to all the lovely handmade articles, the sale will include a Country Store and Bake Sale, as well as living plants. One can find many novel and beautiful items, reasonably priced and suitable for gift giving. It will also be an opportunity to browse and look over the displays; leisurely enjoy a delicious luncheon; shop in comfort and have no parking problems. Dorothy Williamson will call the meeting to order, followed by a prayer led by Eva Dingle and scripture reading by Beth Robinson. Homemade fudge and candies, cakes, pies and breads will be headliners at the sale. Lovely patchwork tree skirts, functional items such as towels and hot pads, decorative art objects, are all being completed by the women's group, with the help of younger people in the church family. Proceeds from all this activity will be donated to the church's building fund. Kulak, pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish in Crystal Lake, together with members of his parish family, is having a rummage sale this weekend, Thur­ sday, Oct. 21, Friday, Oct. 22 and Saturday, Oct. 23. The sale will take place in the narthex of the church, which is located on the corner of Dartmoor drive and McHenry avenue in Crystal Lake. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is welcome to attend. STEVE GARRELTS IN COURT - Steve Garrelts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garrelts of McHenry, was a member of the homecoming court for the Marian Central high school homecoming. Weekend activities included a bonfire Thursday evening, a parade through the Woodstock Square Friday af­ ternoon, and the evening games. A sock hop was held following the game, in which the Hurricanes were defeated by a strong Immaculate Conception high school team. Reigning over festivities were Mary Todd Uhlir of Harvard and Clancy Green of Woodstock. Xi Kappa Iota Celebrates 55th Xi Kappa lota chapter of Beta Sigma Pni held its fifty-fifth meeting recently at the home of Mrs. Barb Kellogg. After the usual business transactions, a cultural program was given by Mrs. Marlene Knutilla on "Kinds of Communications". Members also celebrated the chapter anniversary at this meeting, with a cake especially made and decorated by Mrs. Linda Jachino, and games.
