I nose Who bxcel" Award To Dr. Farmer October 29 The Illinois State board of education's "Those Who Excel" awards will be presented to 104 per­ sons for their outstanding con­ tributions to the state's K-12 education system Oct. 29 in Springfield. Among those honored will be Dr. Richard Farmer, superintendent of McHenry Elementary School District 15, who will receive a plaque as outstanding administrator. The awards banquet for the 104 individuals, representing both public and non-public schools, will be held at the Holiday Inn East, 3100 South Dirksen Parkway. The award winners will be honored in five categories: teacher, school administrator, school board member, student (grades seven through 12), and parent or other member of the community. State Superintendent of Education Donald Gill will present plaques for outstanding achievement, certificates of excellence, and letters of honorary mention. "The awards program provides us with an opportunity to honor the many individuals who devote their talents to offering educational excellence in IHinois' schools," Gill said. For the "Those Who Excel" program, the state is divided into six regions. A selection committee, with representatives of 14 educational organizations, met during the sum­ mer to select the finalists and run- ners-up for each of the six areas.
