FOUR GENERATIONS TOGETHER ' AT CHRISTMAS • The Dick Mummas had a full representation of family during the Christmas holidays. Gramma and grampa Mumma and great- grandmother arrived from Penn sylvania Monday evening, Dec. 20. There was much reminiscing, ex citement, additional shopping, as four generations shared Christmas, 1982. Grandchildren Steve,"Chris, Scott and Missy also enjoyed the other set of grandparents, Alma and Bud Hueckstaedt. , . The senior Mummas left for Penn sylvania on the 26th, with memories of a special Christmas shared with children and grandchildren. CELEBRATIONS Harold Nixon, a long-time member of the Lakemoor community, will reach his seventy-second year on Jan. 5. Beth Baker celebrates the same day with 17 years. Marie Hyatt, mother of the president of Lakemoor Richard Hyatt, has her special day on Jan. 8. Mrs. Hyatt enjoys going out and does so whenever she is able. Young Denise Brunzo's birthday is also on the 8th. Renee Betancourt adds a year on the 10th. The 11th is recognized as birthdate by Patty Chambers and Kathy Jean Thurow. What a nice way to start a new year with a new age. HAPPY CHRISTMAS PARTY Although the date of the party for the senior citizens at the Meet and Eat Center was officially set for Tuesda; Dec. 21, the spirit continued throui Wednesday and Thursday. The friendliness, warmth and love of fellow man permeated the hall at the Moose lodge. The food was delicious and plentiful, with a lovely cake donated for the party dominating the scene. Julia Kraus, volunteer receptionist, and Dorothy Loss site manager, happily welcomed the more than 70 people who came to the party. So many areas were represented such as Ringwood, Round Lake and Algonquin. All joined in the feast in honor of the Christ child. Julia was proud of herself for resisting the forbidden sweets. No gifts were exchanged, but money was given towards the cost of the van operated by the Senior Citizen Council. Mrs. Loss was very pleased with the seniors' generosity and hoped to have the whole amount needed to turn over to the council. LEAVING WONDER LAKE We definitely feel a great sense of loss over the moving of the Piva family from Illinois to North Carolina. John and Kathy Piva, along with their family, Matt and Kate, have been valued friends for the past eight years, since they have been summer residents of Wonder Lake. We have seen Matt mature as a fine athlete involved in Wonder Lake boys baseball from the minors up to the teeners. His talents and deter mination to be a winner never side- H&eecn your ****«. SPECIAL DAYS In the midst of all the holiday ex citement, a couple of special days failed to appear in the paper. A very special lady, who is a iov to talk'to over the telephone, Ula Cdwell, celebrated her birthday on Dec. 16. Ula has been recovering from a broken arm since Thanksgiving time, but is looking forward to a wonderful 1983. Mike and Denise Gunty celebrated their wedding anniversary on Dec. 28. Denise is a lover of White Castle hamburgers so as a pre-anniversary present, Mike took her to Aurora to enjoy her favorite treat. Some gals ask for steak or lobster, but Denise was pleased with her hamburger! GET WELL George Gutzman was recently hospitalized at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock. Our wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery are sent to George. WONDER LAKE GARDEN CLUB Mrs. Doris Lockerbie was hostess for our November meeting, where plans were made for jams and jellies for the residents of Valley Hi Nursing Home - the pleasure of giving, and the enthusiasm of those receiving, makes us twice blessed! The garden club's annual Christmas luncheon and gift exchange was December's highlight, enjoying our local Italian cuisine with several of the spouses of members joining in the fun, making it a grand time, enjoyed by all. A sad note was the death of Mrs. Fern Mecham, a lovely lady and iellow garden club membef, who will be sorrowfully missed by us all.
