PAG^l^PLAjiNDEALEl^ MCHENRY SHORES Nino Keen ' 344-2665 Family Finds Fire In Time Dorothy Bangle's guardian angel must have been looking down and watching over her and her family last Monday night when they became aware of a fire behind the wall of their fireplace, and in their crawl space, and escaped unharmed. McHenry Police and McHenry Area Fire Department responded immediately, and the flames were quickly ex tinguished. The ironic paft is that Dorothy was to have been at a meeting with us that night, but at the last minute decided not to go due to pain from dental work done earlier that day.^ Thank God, they became aware of the fire before anyone was asleep, and too much damage was done. Also adding to Dorothy's sadness in this early new year was the death during,, this holiday season of her grandmother. We send along our deepest condolences, and know that tall of Dorothy's friends and neighbors nere in the Shores wish for her a happier new year ahead. Hang in there, Dorothy! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to 1983! Here's to good health and a happy year ahead to all our readers. Now that the holidays are over, it's back to business as usual, with news of our happenings here in the Shores. . SANTA'S A HIT, AS USUAL! _ Santa's annual drive through McHenry Shores along with his visits to all the youngsters' homes was once again a marvelous treat for all the Shores kids, thanks to our "Santa in- residence", Mick Battel Despite the lack of snow, the Christmas spirit was in abundance, and the joy and an ticipation that this special Santa brought, will be long remembered by many of the children. His time and genuine affection for these kids, truly shows the spirit of Christmas! HOLIDAY BIRTHDAYS Somehow in the confusion of preparihg for the holidays, a birthday slipped by of a great gal, and friend on Dec. 16, Joan Werth Sorry we missed it, we hope it was a happy day. P S. I think it was her 21st, right Joan? Dec. 28 was the seventeenth bir thday of a terrific young gal, and neighbor, Bobbi Orin. "Happy Days" to her, also! And on Jan. 9, another neighbor, Dick Nott, will be celebrating his birthday. Enjoy! Nil! STUDENT FROM SHORES DIRECTS PLAY Tami Gunder, daughter of George and Donna Gunder of Orchid path, recently directed the Players Theatre of Northern Illinois university's production of William Mastrosimone's comedy 'The Woolgatherer". Tami, who is a senior, competed against other students for the job of director. George and Donna were in attendance on Dec. 4, along with a full house, to see the final performance. Coming up Feb. 18-26, Tami will have the lead part in "Trojan Women" to be performed at O'Connell Theatre, on the NIU campus.
