The retirement ac count earns tax-free inter est and can be added to at the taxpayers discretion subject to the $2,000.00 annual lim itation. The retirement funds can not be withdrawn without a tax penalty prior to age 59 'A, and withdrawals must begin at age 70 Zi. Since a tax deduction was received when the contribu tions were made, tax at the ordinary rate will be due when funds are withdrawn. Rotary Seeks Outstanding Students For Scholarships Advertising Consumers who purchase unadvertised products usual ly take more risks. Advertis ing messages implicitly tell buyers that they are going to get decent quality--not nec essarily great quality--for a decent price. Neither the best nor the worse bays are gen erally advertised, says an economist. POLICE TICKETS The City of McHenry Police department has issued the following citations. Thomas W. Para, 808 S. Nulle announced the Illinois Sheriffs' association will, this year, award 52 scholarships of a maximum of $500 each for the academic year 1963-84. The goal of the association is to provide assistance to worthy students in furthering their education and training. The 52 scholarships will be awarded statewide to students pursuing courses in vocational training or attending institutions of higher learning. There is no restriction on applicants by reason of race, creed, color, age, sex, national origin or the Stereo Stolen From Car In City McHenry police investigated the theft of a stereo system valued at $235 from an auto parked at the Jewel food store, in McHenry. The driver of the car, Julie D. Smith, 4305 E. Wonder Lake road, Wonder Lake, told McHenry police she locked the car doors when she went into the store. When Ms. Smith returned, the passenger door was found open and the stereo system gone. The dashboard of the vehicle was reportedly damaged. The auto was registered to Kurt H. Walker, 4305 E. Glosson was observed driving a car at a high rate of speed on eastbound Elm street. He was charged with speeding, 44 mph in a 30 zone, unlawful use of license and driving with a suspended license. course of study to be pursued. The only limitation is that applicants be permanent residents of Illinois and the scholarship be utilized at an in stitution of learning within the State of Illinois. Sheriff Nulle explained that ap plicants who are permanent residents of McHenry county will be screened by a Board of Citizens selected by him and two will be recommended to a statewide committee that will make the final selection of those to receive the 52 awards. The Sheriff's Scholarship program is funded through the Associate Membership program which was started by the Illinois Sheriff's association in 1980. Sheriff Nulle said all interested students to consult the administrator of the school they are attending now, or the Sheriff's office, for information and applications. "The busy man has few idle visitors; to the boiling pot the flies come not." " Benjamin Franklin 'X BUDDY'S WORKSHOP Carpet Care Requires More Than Vacuum I am a full-time housewife and 1 vacuum the entire hou se at least twice a week. The other night while my husband and I were hosting a party, a friend asked me how long it had been since I had my rugs professionally cleaned. 1 couldn't give her an answer, because I don't remember. If you vacuum on a regular basis and the carpets retain their good looks is profession! cleaning needed? Cleaning, other than°regular use of a vacuum, is need ed. Vacuuming removes loose litter and dust but, with both time and wear, dirt becomes imbedded in the carpet by foot traffic and is not removed by a vacuum cleaner. Imbedded dirt will only be removed by shampooing. You can buy shampoo in a small spray can and do the job by hand or rent a commercial shampooing machine from a hardware store. With the spray can, you simply spray the carpet, one section at a time, work the shampoo in with a sponge, let dry and vacuum. The machine is better. The machine dispenses the shampoo as rotating brushes work it into the carpet. The rental cost is reasonable and the machine does a better job, but the drying time is longer -- a matter of several hours. YOU'VE HEARD OF AIRPORT CARPORT ANYPORT IN A STORM BUT WHAT'S A FARMPORT?
