With 60 percent of the wives working, many families are finding it more convenient to eat at fast food restaurants. They are also finding it to be more economical. The cost of eating at home has risen 51 percent over the last three years. According to a recent Agricultural Depart ment Survey, the cost of eating fast food is the same as eating at home. A meal consisting of a hamburger, french fries and soft drink costs, $1.61 at a fast food outlet, compared to $ .83 at home. But when the value of time required to shop, cook and clean up is added on, the cost of the two meals is about the same. There is an increasing demand for larger food and drink portions at fast food restaurants because they cost less per ounce.
