Lakeland Park Women's Club Reelects Its Present Off At the April meeting of the Lakeland Park Women's Club, Ruth Roach, Nominating committee chairman, read the list of nominees and voting followed, with the result that all present officers were reelected. They are Lyda Radisch, president; Marie Cross, vice- president; Frances Kostka, treasurer; Cecilia Oakford, secretary; Adele Arndt, registrar; Lyda Radisch, publicity; and Adele Arndt, Sunshine. The officers will be re-installed at the May meeting and the annual of ficers dinner is scheduled for June. Hostesses' Marie Nichols, Adele Arndt and Frances Kostka served delicious refreshments. A games party followed the business meeting,* and everyone *a attendance won at least one priae, and had a lot of fun. After a delicious potluck luncheon, the April meeting of the group was called to order by president Bertha Stange, who thanked the ladies for a very fine meal. Vivian Bassett's meditations were on Psalms 121, ending with a prayer. Minutes of the March meeting and the financial report were read; and "Happy Birthday" and "Happy Anniversary" were sung to members celebrating these events in April. At the conclusion of the business meeting, the program was given by Pastor Lowery, which included pic tures and a very informative narration on the Red Bird and Navajo Methodist Missions, along with data on Methodist universities and colleges. It was an interesting program. Friendship club is a casual, friendly group, and members of the congregation who are 50 years old or older are invited and urged to come out and partricipate in the good times enjoyed by the club's members. The event, sponsored by the lodge, will take place Saturday, April 30, at the American Legion clubhouse, Ringwood road. Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8 p. m. Proceeds will aid the Kosmalski family, whose van was destroyed in a December accident. The vehicle was equipped with a wheelchair galley and electrical outlets so that the deaf and blind son of the Kosmalski family could be transported. Hospital bills stemming from the child's care and treatment the first two years amounted to $800,000. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD A President Lucille reported on some changes to be made in the by-laws, recommended by the board at its April 11 meeing. Two main changes were as follows: 1) Abolishing the present boundary lines and accepting anyone who wishes to join the club in the specified age bracket. 2) Lowering the age from 60 to 55 and over. There were several other minor changes which were approved by the mem bership. Two of the members, Louise and Paul Marke, will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary May 14, with an open house from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and a Mass at 5 p.m. at Christ the King church. Club members all of fered their congratulations. Bob and Vivian Cook were welcomed as new members. There was also a visitor all the way from Birmingham, England. The meeting was adjourned and cake and coffee were served. The rest of the afternoon, those staying en joyed cards and bunco. The jphurch of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry was the setting for the April 23 exchange of wedding vows between the former Linda Klawinski and Ronald Bykowski. The bride is the daugher of Florian and Helen Klawinski of Mundelein, 111. Mrs. Lottie Bykowski of McHenry and the late Mitchell Bykowski are the parents of the bridegroom. The 2:30 p.m. ceremony was of ficiated by the Reverend James Gaynor and appropriate musical selections were performed by St. Mary's Adult Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Celeste Mann. The bride was gowned for the oc* casion in an original ivory chiffon creation by a known fashion designer. Styled with a sweetheart neckline, it featured brocaded silk Venice lace, highlighting a chapel length train. The entire gown was exquisitely em bellished with sequins and pearls. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Alyce Shay of McHenry. Bridesmaids were Deborah Miller and Shari Jobst, both of McHenry. Amanda Krickl, also of McHenry, was the junior bridesmaid. Attendants were attired in peach colored, formals complemented with fine lace capes. Handling the duties of best man was James Schaid of Crystal Lake. Groomsmen were Gary Klawinski of Island Lake and Ken Koreba of Wonder Lake. Robert Schaid of Crystal Lake was the ring bearer. The groom wore a distinguished black designer tuxedo. Following the nuptials, a reception for 300 friends and relatives was held at the VFW hall in McHenry. Enhancing the romantic mood of the candlelight dinner, an orchestra provided background dinner music. Later, music for dancing was offered by a live band. A highlight of the occasion was a late evening jam session by friends of the groom. Upon return from a wedding trip through the southern states, the newlyweds will make their home in McHenry. Quilt On Display Members of the Mental Health Resource League tor McHenry County have spent many hours working on a lovely, hand-sewn quilt for this year's "Fair Diddley". It is an old-fashioned pieced quilt in a Penn sylvania Dutch hex sign pattern. In the cento- of each of the 12 blocks is a different cross-stitched design.A heart motif on each of the four corners unifies the pattern with its two beautiful matching pillows with complementary designs. Uiis unique quilt will be on display at "Fair Diddley" Sunday, May 15, beginning at noon. It will also be shown throughout the county at various locations before the fair. Liberty Post No. 188 On April 12, a group from Chapter No. 188 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans visited veterans at the North Chicago Veterans' hospital in Waukegan, 111. Twenty veterans enjoyed a pleasant evening playing games and being rewarded with cash prizes. Each veteran also received a deck of playing cards; and refreshments of crackers, cheese, doughnuts and coffee were served.
