La Leche League Slates Meeting When the McHenry-Fox-Lake La Leche league holds its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, the topic will be "Advantages of Breast­ feeding" Pregnant women will find this meeting helpful in making an informed decision about breast- / feeding. * The league is a self-help group dedicated to promoting good mothering through breastfeeding and mother to mother sharing. It has a lending library with many books on childbirth,' nutrition and breast­ feeding. Nursing babies are always welcome. Plan Seminar On Clerks The first of three seminars on clerks will be held Tuesday, May 10, at 7 p.m., in the McHenry Public Library. McHenry City Clerk, Barbara Gilpin will conduct this first session, ex­ plaining the duties of city clerk. Subsequent meetings will feature Rosemary Azzaro, McHenry County clerk, on May 17; and Chief Deputy of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Geri Elbersen. May 24. The programs, sponsored by the Legislation committee of the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club, will be free of charge and the public is invited and en­ couraged to attend. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Members of the BPW club, Lynne Donarski, Cathy Nolan,- Adeline Pedersen, Yvonne Ryden, G.G. Havens and Betty Smith, attended the state convention held this past weekend at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare. It was with much pride that they approached the podium on several occasions to receive awards for their club, including State Legislation certificate, State Library certificate, two Special Recognition ribbons for Public Relations, National Foun­ dation, Member Contribution award, two membership certificates, State award for four members who each sponsored a new member, certificate for club equalization by Sept. 30, and certificate for the greatest percentage of increase prior to Sept. 30. The McHenry women were equally proud of their Young Career Woman, Donna Bertulis, who competed with 17 other entrants who had won district recognition and were vying for the state award. Ms., Bertulis was very enthusiastic and grateful for the opportunity to have this experience and was impressed with the careers of her "competition. The winner is an attorney; some of the others work in the field of Special Education for the Handicapped, and one is with a Dairy association, traveling all over the world to conduct training sessions.
