Sodality Holds Rummage Sale Christ The King Ladies Sodality is holding a rummage sale at the school July 15,16, and 17. Many good bargains will be available and the profits will be used to benefit the church. The ladies have been working for weeks gathering articles and doing the pricing and are eager for it to be a success. Come early to get that special article that you might miss later on. Sunday will be half-price day on anything that remains. A bake sale will also be taking place in the school basement. GREATFOURTH Our Fourth of July activities Saturday, July 2, couldn't have been better. Even though the weather was quite threatening all the way up to parade time, it cleared up and the day turned out beautiful. The parade was something to see with over 50 different entries. Lorraine Henely, president of the Woman's Club of Wonder Lake, presented the trophy to the Mill Inn for having the best float. They cer­ tainly livened up the spectators when their jazz band played as they rode by. The new Miss Wonder Lake for 1983- 84, Jeanne Jorgenson, was presented to the crowd by Mari Jacobson, 1982- 83 Miss Wonder Lake. Jeanne was very relaxed greeting the crowd and then reigned over the day's activities. Hot dogs, lemonade, and ice cream cones were enjoyed by the hungry crowd as they ventured back to the Co. 1 firehouse. A firefighting demonstration was put on by a joint effort of Co. 1 and Co. 2 firemen. The highlight of the display was the arrival of the emergency helicopter as it landed behind the firehouse enroute from St. Anthony hospital in Rock- ford. Air time was 23 minutes, lite helicopter and its services were ex­ plained by the nurse in charge and then the helicopter was on display for all to see. The children were all ex­ cited to get a close-up look, but us older people were just as enthused! Some of the crowd ventured to the American Legion for games while others went home for a short rest before returning to Wonder Center Beach to see the Wonder Lake Ski Club perform. As usual, the club put on an excellent show with very skilled acts and beautiful costumes. Our club is one of the best around and they are a joy to see. The evening ended tyith the fireworks display, which began at dusk. It was a perfect way to end a perfect day. Of course, everyone who took part in the activities should be commended for their efforts and cooperation, but the whole credit for organizing the day's activities and the endless hours spent on the telephone and at the typewriter goes to Chris Niehaus. She is the lady responsible for giving us all a day to remember. RESIDENTS MOVING The Mike Gunty family will soon be leaving Wonder Woods and heading for New Jersey." Because of a job transfer, the Gunty family, Mike, Denise, Michael, and Kim will be leaving before the end of the summer. Seminar Helps Market Writing A seminar titled "Marketing Your Writing-Emphasis On Fiction" will be presented at McHenry County college Thursdays, July 14 and 21, from 7 to 10 p.m. Professional writers Ann and Ed Kolaczyk will help assess writing talent and explain techniques of research and development. They will identify markets and things that can bring about immediate rejection of a manuscript. They will talk about the financial impact of a writing career and share the successes and failures they have had in the last six years. The Kolaczyks are full time authors of romance novels who write under a number of pseudonyms. They live in Kildeer, 111. Their latest novel is set in McHenry county, in and around Harvard. Corydon (Cory) Carani, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Carani, attended the Illinois Federation Art school held at the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign, the week of June 19 to 24. Students chose two of the several art experiences. During the week the students ex­ perienced campus life and enjoyed a pizza party get-to-gether. . On Friday Federation day, Women's club members from all over the state visited the Art school classes, toured the World Heritage museum, watched a bronze pouring and attended the exhibition of the summer Art school students work.
