Beckler led off the bottom half for the Blue Birds with a single. He took second on an over throw and scored on Malt Hubbard's single to win the game. Hubbard led the Blue Birds in hitting, going three-for-three and three runs scored. Shawn Colomer tripled. Craig Wallace doubled for the Condors. Bret Derby picked up the win, allowing only three hits and striking out six. J Blue Birds 7 Wonder Lake Royals 6: The Blue Birds turned a triple play to - hold down the Royals. Jon Bleckler caught a fly ball and he stepped on second for the second out and then threw to pitcher Scott Miller, who threw to the plate to catch the runner trying to score. Miller was the win ning pitcher, striking out seven. Owls 2 Falcons 1: The Owls scored the winning run in the second inning. > Jack Watrous was the winning pit- ' cher, allowing only four hits and - striking out six. Scott Sorling, the losing pitcher, also only gave up four hits, but struckout nine batters. Eric Swanson of the Owls and Scott Sorling of the Falcons both had two hits. Cardinals 12 Wonder Lake A's 7: • Tim Mauer, Chris Ahven and Wayne MarkGraff all hit doubles to lead the Cardinals. Mauer had a total of three hits Ahven knocked in four runs. Jerry Lubben was three-for-three for the A's. Dave Selleck and Danny Wor- schester both added doubles. Bob Diedrich was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and no walks. Cardinals 25 Eagles 3: Jeff Mylenic was five-for-five and Wayne MarkGraff was four-for-four in leading the Cardinals. Mylenic added two doubles and four RBIrs. MarkGraff and Tim Mauer also knocked in four runs, while John Olson led the Cardinals with four RBI's. Mike Hetterman and Mike Boland both doubled for the Eagles. Tim Mauer won his fifth game of the season against no losses, striking out four and giving up wily three hits and three walks. Orioles 8 Blue Birds 3: Chris Landis hit two doubles and Jerimeh Sawyer hit <me to lead the Orioles. Landis picked up the win, striking out eight, allowing six hits and three walks. Marc Hubbard and Bret Derby both doubled for the Blue Birds. Orioles 7 Blue Birds 4: Tom Sweetwood was the winning pitcher, striking out seven and only giving up four hits. Chris Landis doubled. Rick Pankiewitz and Bret Derby each doubled for the Blue Birds. The Blue Birds turned two double {days. Hawks 12 Owls 5: The Owls helped out the Hawks cause with seven errors in <me inning. Eric Salmon led the Hawks with three hits, while Ron Malcomb tripled and Tim Glosson doubled. Falcons 18 Sparrows 17: The Falcons scored three times in the top of the sixth and then held the Sparrows to win the game. Many prizes were awarded, following dinner, based on the Peoria system with a blind bogie affair thrown in. In spite of the intense heat and nearly unbearable humidity and the almost unprecedented time of better than five.and a half hours to play 18 holes, the gals had a fine time. Following the full round of golf, crazy putting and card playing was made available. Preceding dinner, an hour of professional-style en tertainment based on the roaring twenties was present&iby a Somber of the very talented ladies of the club and under the direction of Millie Simon. Chapel, Hill The team standings in the Tuesday Ladies League after the match play of July 12 are as follows: Nowak is leading with 54%, Mar Ray is close behind with 53, Little Chef has 48, Blue Camel 46%, Top Deck 42, Steffans 41, McHenry Floral 40 and Fox Hole 35. The Contest for team low net was won by Nowak with 287. July 19 was a day to remember or to forget with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees and air heavy tfith humidity. In spite of this, Doris Freund birdied number two and Jane Lowery chipped intm 18 find Sharon Delehanty did the same on 15. Our team in the traveling league finished the season third in a field of eight. Bonnie Brook was first with 41, Deerfield had 40% points and Chapel Hill had 37.
