WMIKfe^MAV. JVLV X7,1KB LAKEMOOIVLILYMOOR, AREA Margaret Koras 385-4934 its first place Bob played a in fee playoffs. Request Area Memorabilia SRie summer of 1916 found Mr. and M&. Edward Franz and their two daughters Myldred and Louise, renting a home on the Seyfreth property on Route 120 for $7 a week. A summer home was built in 1920, which lafer became the permanent residence for Myldred and her husband Bob Rowe. So Myldred has kn$wn our community for the past 67 vefcrs, starting when she was a child s\simming in the clean water of Lily Alma Hueckstaedt called to say the Lilymoor golf course consisted of nine holes in three locations. She is chicking into the history of the little white school house that was on the little hill on the corner of Lily Lake road and Route 120 where tire trucks are now housed. Alma also had some information about the various property owner groups in Lilymoor. The granddaughter of early residents Agnes and James Simmons, called with some of her childhood recollections in the Steadman household in Lakemoor. Pat recalls visiting the elaborate Seyfreth home, to play with the large furnished doll hofse complete with lights, which was set on a large dining room table. The tw$ hearses stored in the lakeside garage added to the mystery of the ho^ie. Any pictures, report cards or other memorabilia of that time would be of interest to visitors at the Lily Lake Area day at the McHenry Historical Society, Sunday, Aug. 7. Make up your own collection of family history, to either be donated to the society or returned to you after our special day. A FAREWELL AND A WELCOME Mrs. John Krai has left Lakemoor after living here for 24 years and is now settled in at "The Villager" in Crystal Lake. A lot of living went into ending up witha 405 average.' Bob was in the All Stars game, but on the losing side. He is now an alternate for the traveling team. The Cardinals had a great season, losing one game and winning Uk No wonder Bob's dad and mother and sister Chris are proud of ability. Congratulations oh your trophy Bob, and may you get another one next year. A PATIENT PATIENT always Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ripley and daughter Jessica are the new residents in Mrs. Krai's former home. We welcome them and wish them a pleasing and fulfilling life in Lakemoor. TO THE RESCUE Josh Taylor, youngest son of the Taylors on Columbus drive, was satisfying his curiosity about what could be found in a small opening in the back of his dad's camper truck. He stuck his hand in and then to his dismay couldn't get it out. The rescue squad with sirens announcing their mercy mission, arrived, and after an application of lubricant, Josh's arm was extricated. No bones were broken and Josh is all right with just a swollen arm to show for his curiosity. LOOSE DOGS ALWAYS A THREAT Most dogs are kept fenced in or on a chain but sometimes they do get loose. Keeping a close watch on our pets is necessary in order to keep yards and roadways safe. Marie Jaimes has been concerned with dogs chasing children riding on their bicycles. Owners are asekd to keep their pets on their own property. TROPHY WINNER Bob Glus of Lakemoor playing with the Cardinals, helped give that team Myldred was with her Saturday at dinner time, and saw that her mam ate all on her tray. "Gramma" Louise is an excellent patient, and responds to the special care of nurses, including Sharon Nye. She is still aware of her surroundings and answered my questions with a resonant voice. As she continues to get stronger, her return to Royal Terrace should be soon. SPECIAL DAYS Skipper Gurske of Lilymoor adds another year to his earthly existence July 27. The 31st is birthday time for Effie Hertel's son Mike, and young Tony Prater of F.E. Starting off August is the birthday of Heather Hager. Sherida Dawdy will be six years old Aug. 2, the same day Nancy Martina celebrates a teen year. Jeannine and Charles Martina, Nancy's mom and dad, celebrate their twenty-eighth wedding anniversary July 30, making this a festive week at the Martinas. BERRY PICKING TIME It is the time of year when faces are covered with telltale signs of berry eaters. What compares to the taste of eating mulberries off the trees, or the sweetness of the wild black rasp berries that abound in our area. The berries ripened later this year, so many are still to be found. Sugared Son gftecutfy SPcAoofo, t*fwc. 2350 E. July 13,20 27, 1983) No. 830319 Calling Colleen I » Dear Colleen: I have no doubt that there's ino fool like an old fool. My father is 70 years old. He has lived alone since my mother died, ten years ago. Two months ago, he hired a cook and housekeeper, to work part time. Within one month the woman, who is SO years old, began working full time and a week later, die moved in. Now, they are talking a- bout marriage. We think dad is being foolish, but he refus es to talk to me or my broth er, saying his mind is made up. We think he is making a mistake, but it seems there is nothing we can do about it. Angie Dear Angle: You can give him your best wishes, your best advice and recommendations, and hope things work out for the best. You could be surprised. Dear Colleen: 1 Three years agftj nras ar rested and convicted of rob bing a grocery store, a crime I did not commit. I had a date on the night the robbery was committed, with a girl who was scheduled to be married (to someone else) shortly and she refused to confirm my story in court. The marriage lasted less than three months, but she is still unwilling to come forward and clear my name. She says it is "post his tory" and better forgotten. It's not "past history" for me when I have to answer the unpleasant questions asked in job interviews. Why doesn't she realize this? Jim Dear Jim: Let's face it: If she slipped out for a date with you just before her marriage, a sense of responsibility is not among her long suits.
