Jepsen Tire 16 Kiwanis 3 Jepsen Tire maintained second place defeating the McHenry Kiwanis 16-3. The Kiwanis managed to score their runs in the second and third innings with a two-run double by Joe Knaack and Phil Schimke scoring an unearned run on a throwing error by Jepsen's third baseman. Jepsen came back, with Rich Gilbertson single handedly drove in six runs on four hits, including a two- run homerun and a two-run double, Rick Lively assisted his teammate by sending home four runs, while Fred Ludwig added two RBI's on two hits. It was a 2-2 game going into the second inning, where the Hitman brought out their big guns to take the lead 7-3 with the help of Paul Swaboda's three-run triple. The Over-the-Hill men attempted to stick with the Hitmen when a two-run homerun by Mike Bonner narrowed the Hitmen's advantage to 7-5. Two RBI hits by Mike Hurckes and Dave Ponte provided the insurance the Hitman needed to guard their win. Players are all-stars from their [ home towns. The first round on 'Saturday will feature four games. At ^ 9:30 a.m., Richmond will take on Cary and at noon, Wonder Lake will play Alden. Johnsburg will play McHenry at 2:30 p.m. and Wauconda will take on Round Lake at 5:30 p.m. Games will continue through the week, with the consolation cham­ pionship played at noon the followii Saturday. The tourney title game wil follow at 3 p.m. Homeruns Power After The Fox To 14-5 Win Homeruns by Denise Fisher, Eilleen Mazzano and Ellen Huska powered After The Fox to a 14-5 win over Little Johns-Lakes Cable during women's Thursday night 16 inch softball. After the Fox scored in every inning except the fourth, scoring four times in the third and seventh innings. Huska led After The Fox with a four- for-four performance, adding a double to the homerun. Eileen Mazzano led in the homerun department with three, while Fisher added two. Raymonds Bowl held onto ^Ib B Division lead over second place Novotny Sales and Taylor Made with a 14-11 win over Novotny last week Tuesday during VFW men's 16 inch softball. Raymonds grabbed a 7-0 lead after in two innings of play before Novotny scored twice in the third inning to get on the scoreboard. Mark Mayer ., homered in the third inning to score the lone run in the second inning for Raymonds. A lead-off triple by Leon Palates sparked a four-run fourth inning for Novotny to tie the game. Both teams came up with two runs in the fifth to keep the game tied. But Raymonds broke the game open in the sixth in­ ning, scoring three runs. Again, Mayer came up with the big hit. A run scoring triple. Mayer was the over all top hitter for Raymonds, batting four-for-four and three runs scored. Marty Palmer added a double. Besides hitting a triple, Palates doubled for Novotny and Dan Tennis added a triple. Tay lor Made 5 Old Bridge 4 Taylor Made,broke a 4-4 tie, with one run in the top of the seventh inning Fox Lake Run The second annual Moccasin and Popoose run will be held on Sunday August 7 in Fox Lake. The 6.2 mile run is sponsored by the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce and it will begin at 8 a.m. on the high school track directly across from the school parking lot. The race course will go through downtown Fox Lake and winds along the lake, close as . possible. to win the game. Fred Berg knocked in the winning run with a single, scoring Tom Pepping who reached on an error. Taylor Made held a 4-3 edge going into the sixth inning, but Old Bridge scored twice in the bottom half to tie the game. Joe Bauml had the big hit for Taylor Made, an inside the park homerun. Decker Const. 9 R T Dees 6 Decker overcame a 6-3 R T Dees lead with a five-run fourth to claim the victory. Brian Miller had the big hit in the fourth inning for Decker. He hit a inside the park homerun to score the final two runs. Jim Grabowski and Brett Decker added doubles. Andy Larsen tripled, while Steve Zolleck and Todd Cariveau doubled to lead R T Dees. St. Regis 17 Smitty's Tap 2 St. Regis scored 10 runs in the second inning to power their way to the win. Four extra base hits highlighted the inning, one a two-run homer by Gary Gilpin. Gilpin finished the night two- for-two and four RBI's. Joe Dehn and Steve Mai also homered for St. Regis. Dehn's was a two-run smash in the first inning, while Mai connected with a three-run in the park homer in the fourth. Bob Michels helped out with a three- for-three performance, including two doubles. Mike Heelein had the only hit for Smitty's Tap. A single in the fifth inning. Palace Bowl 14 After The Fox 10 Palace Bowl was sparked by a seven-run. fourth inning, but had to hold off a After The Fox rally in the sixth inning to win.
