M Boy Scouts Aid Drive To Increase Safety Belt Use Automobile crashes are the leading cause of death among young Americans, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA). Each year, some 8,000 to 9,000 young people ages 8 to 19 die in traffic accidents. Studies indicate that safety belt usage for this age group is well below the nation's average of nearly 14 percent. To help increase safety belt use NHTSA, in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America, Inc., has developed unique educational materials to help Scout-age youths understand the importance of using safety belts in automobiles. Blackhawk Area Council, BSA, providing service to a 12-county area out of Rockford, said this effort is part of a nation-wide campaign to increase the use of safety belts. Educational resource kits were developed and are now in the hands of thousands of Boy Scout leaders. The kits were introduced at the national BSA meeting and used at camp schools and regional meetings. The materials include slide sets, films, brochures and training supplies. Cattle were brought to the New- World by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. Hall for rent. Seating capacity' Ttir* fcob.
