But Matrix matched Cullom Knoll t by scoring four runs of their own off of v'shots by Tom Henshaw, torn Savage V and Bill Verstege. In the fourth, a two- » run single by Ted Juske and RBI hits t.Hby Jim Abel and Jim Verstege fallowed Matrix to move into an 8-6 t lead. Cullom Knoll's Lenny Jensen turned a single into a two-run homer, while Bill Cunningham's RBI tied the game at 8-8. But Keying into errors made by Matrix's outfield in the eighth inning opened the door foe Tony Sroka to score the winning run, with Jensen and O'Halleran picking up RBI's for insurance. Old Bridge 15 Oak Park 8 K With a current record of 2-10 going into the game, no one thought the Old Bridge-McHenry Auto Body could manage to knock off a second first place team. But that's exactly what happened as Old Bridge upset Oak Park 15-8. It was Oak Park Hotel which scored early with RBI singles by Tom Cunningham and Bob Landa, and later a homerun by Cunningham. Old Bridge responded in the third with run scoring singles by Doug Lindberg, Ron Neece and a RBI triple by Dave Bockman. Funks Plumbing 13 God Squad 7 The God squad scOred in the third inning on two RBI sacrifices by Rick Synder and Phil Thennes to take a 2-0 lead. The lead was short-lived, as Funks cut the lead in half by scoring Dale Lundis on a double by Skip Bellon. Funks broke the game open in the sixth when Bellon knocked in one run and Greg Bartos hit a bases loaded triple. Bimbos 6 Back Door Tavern 4 The Blue Camel-Bimbos scored in th early innings, picking up three runs in the first from hits by Butch Meyer and later scoring on a single from brother John. The game resumed in the bottom of the sixth inning when Funks Plum bing at bat leading 9-8 with two men on base and two men out. Little John's scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-8 lead. Consecutive singles by Jim Quinn, Steve Himplemann, Steve Lane and John Griffith sparked the rally. West End came back, however, as Rick Wiegman knocked in both Don Prazak and Tom Prudden to tie the game. Rosing's winning hit followed in the bottom half to give Little Johns the win in the second game. Quinn and Himplemann led Little John's with three hits each, while Himplemann hit a double in the third inning. Don Prazak had three hits for the Pub, including a double. West End Pub 4 Little John's 1 Two-run innings in the third and fourth was all the Pub needed in finishing off Little John's in the first game. With one out, Tom Burke tripled to knock in John Michels for the first run. Michels had singled to reach base. Burke scored when Don Prazak hit a sacrifice fly. With one out in the fourth inning, v Bob Tortorici and Rick Wiegman both singled. Boltz walked to load the bases and Mike Hagberg walked to force in one run. The second run scored on a single by John Michels. Crystal lake "v The Johnsburg Tigers took it on the chin twice this past Sunday, losing the suspended Crystal Lake game of June 25 6-5 and then the regularly scheduled game 13-1. Crystal Lake now only trails the 11-5 Tigers by a mere 21 percentage points. Algonquin dropped their Northern Illinois Baseball League record to 10-5 by losing to Marengo on Sunday. The Tigers finished out the season at home this Saturday with a single game against the Algonquin A's. With the NIBL race as close as it is, this game is a must for the Tigers if they hope to take the league title. Game time is noon at the Community Club diamond. The suspended game began in the top of the fifth, one out, and a Tiger runner on third. Unfortunately, neither Greg Bruce nor Jeff Daihiani could bring the run home. Crystal Lake Took a 5-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tim Murphy had control problems for the Tigers and was replaced by Kurt Valentin. The Tigers came back by scoring four times for a 5-5 tie. Brian Wilson led off with a single and went to third on Kurt Valentin's double.
