As I walked to the Club Houm, Mts. Jack (Betty) Smith and Joanie Buss were starting out in a cart to watch the play. Joanie (great girl that she it) got out and gave me her place in the cart. I protested, but only mildly when she explained having another aort to use. The weather was perfect and the tour around the course was pleasant. Golfers entered the tourney from many cities. All were good or they wouldn't have been there. I was tokl Dolores Overton started this big event nine years ago. It has grown in popularity to the point where 45 applicants had to be turned down this year. Tokl Betty it reminded me of years past when Fred Heide was in to see me every week to get a plug in S.I.H. to build up interest in Hookey Day. It finally grew to the point where plugs weren't necessary. That was my first time to watch the ladies tournament. I liked it! Come the last Sunday of this month and my annual date with Barb Weber will take place. . We will again be watching the last round of the men's battle for the Club Championship. That is always a high spot in my year. Remember way back when people hung black crepe on the front door when a death occurred in the family? In early days in our area tuere were no funeral homes so crowds swarmed into the homes. In fair weather, the crowd over flowed into the yard. We will soon be approaching greei apple time when kids eat too man> and get the collywobbles.
