GOD BLESS Richard McClellan, local leader of the 400-member congregation of northern McHenry county, and his wife Sheryl, in foreground at right, chat with Elder Gordon B. Hinckley following the temple ground breaking service. Photo by Glen Friedman Temple To Serve County Among a gathering of scores of local and out-of-state visitors, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints broke ground Saturday for the construction of the Chicago Temple in Glenview. It will serve the McHenry county membership. Richard McClellan of Crystal Lake, bishop of the 400-member local unit of the church that includes most of McHenry county, said, "For mem bers of the church in Illinois and the midwest, this is the most significant event in church history in nearly 140 years." The Chicago Temple is the first temple in the midwest since the Nauvoo, 111., Temple was built and subsequently destroyed in the 1840's. Construction of the Chicago Temple means that midwest church members can " participate regularly in the sacred ordinances of their faith.
