PAGE 14 • PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER It. 1983 general ywi 101 ui News Crime Stoppers receives over $1,000 in pledgfes The McHenry business community pledged well over $1,000 last weekend, to lack off the McHenry Area Crime Stoppers program. Several businesses responded to the program's need for funding, following a presentation at the McHenry Chamber of Commerce annual dinner dance Saturday. "We had very good pledges," commented Mike Cajthaml, chairman of the local citizen's organization. "And many businesses said that they would pledge in the future." Crime Stoppers is a new program in McHenry, which involves the public, the media and the police in the fight against crime. Cases which the police department has determined "unsolvable" are brought before the public with an appeal for information. Individuals may give needed information anonymously through a central Crime Stoppers phone number, 459- 4800. Cash rewards are given for information which leads to the arrest and filing of charges against a criminal. Since Crime Stoppers is a non profit, citizens organization, operational funds and cash rewards can only be made with the help of donations. Among those speaking to the Chamber, on behalf of the Crime Stoppers coordinator for the Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers; Sgt. Patrick Joyce, McHenry police coordinator for Crime Stoppers; Cajthaml; and Jack Pepping, chairman of the McHenry Crime Stoppers fund raising committee. Any individuals or businesses wishing to donate money for services to the program may contact Cajthaml at 3^-1662. All donations are tax deductible, BIRTHS ff U Thomas P. and Lisa O'Leary, 4317 S.
