Operating room nurse group meets at Memorial Hospital Memorial Hospital for McHenry County recently hosted the monthly meeting of the North Regional Illinois chapter" of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (A.O.R.N.) Guest speaker was Doctor Robert M. Gibula, M.D., S.C. Dr. Gibula discussed advances in the treatment of cataracts, x glaucoma, and diabetes related Vision problems. He also "'discussed advances in technology, notably the use of the laser and microsurgical techniques which have enabled the opthamological surgeon to Kreserve vision in patients who ad * fomerly untreatable conditions. _ . A.O.R.N. is a 'professional organization of registered nurses employed in the surgical area. The purpose of the association is to promote the highest standards of operating room nursing and optimal care, before, during and after surgery and to stuay, discuss ana exchange information in the field of operating room nursing. Nationally, A.O.R.N. is comprised of approximately 30,500 members, The North Regional Illinois chapter of the A.O.R.N. was formed in June erf 1983. Local hospitals represented in this chapter include: Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Northern Illinois Medical Center and others. Officers of the local chapters are: Pat Mews- President, McHenry Hospital; Barb Kasper-Vice President, Good Shepherd; Kathy Herman- Secretary, McHenry Hospital ; and Sharon Hill-Treasurer, Memorial Hospital for McHenry County; and Marion Koster- President-elect, Good Shepherd.
