No state action on Nippersink dredging By Kit Begalka Shaw FYee Press Media The application for a permit by the Master Property Owners Association to chedge in the Mp- persink Creek was received Wed nesday, Sept. 28, by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Water Resources Division. But it is one thing to receive, another to approve. Pat Bfcady, EDOT engineering technician in charge of reviewing the application, saidhe said he has not studied it in detail. Brady said he is waiting to hear from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. However, he saiamore additional information would be required on ju* how the master amnciattnn plans on altering the channel. There has been talk of straightening the creek as well as deepening it four to five feet. Brady said the application probably would be approved, desp^e his personal reservations aboii the effectiveness of a silt basin. The association plans to dig a basin rest of the Thomson Roan bridge in an effort to reduce siltation of Wonder Lake. "It's up to them what they want to do with meir property," Brady said. "I wouldn't reouninend it. It's probably a waste of time in the kmg nn." Jack Crawford, chairman of the MPOA's lake corrrattee, said he is waiting out the decision by EDOT. "There's no sense in meeting into we hear the results from the permit issue," Crawford said. Oawford added the lake level drawdown was to begin Oct. 15, bit construction would not.
