OCTOBER XI. 1883 general News Congressman to speak at Schaffer reception Girl Scouts discover world of art More than 600 Junior Girl Scouts gathered Saturday, Oct. 15, at Shabbona Hills, near Woodstock, for the Sybaquav Art Potpourri. Girls selected their own activities from sessions which included Melody Madness, Razz-Ma-Tazz to Jazz, Puppetry, Mime, and Crafts. Congressman James Sensenbrenner, who represents ' a suburban Milwaukee district in the House of -Rep- „The event was planned by council volunteers to bring girls from all parts of the council together for fun and sharing. The Sybaquav Girl Scout Council, a, united Way Agency, serves girls ages 6 through 17. The Council is presently organizing troops throughout its jurisdiction in McHenry County, and parts of Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Kane, Lake, and LaSalle Counties. William Stripp, chairman of Citizens for Schaffer, a n n o u n c e d t h a t Congresswoman Lynn Martin of Rockford and Congressman Philip Crane of Arlington Heights will serve as honorary co-chairpersons of the reception. Congressman Sen- senbrennOr has represented Milwaukee's north shore suburbs since 1978. He is a member of the House Judiciary Committee and ranking Republican member of its subcommittee on Criminal Justice. He also serves on the Science and Technology Committee and is chairman of Wisconsin's GOP delegation in the House. Prior to his election to Congress he served ten years in the Wisconsin Legislature. Tickets for the reception can be obtained by con­ tacting Stripp at 815 459-1776, or they may be purchased at the door. Schaffer has represented the northern Illinois area in the Senate since 1973. The veteran lawmaker is the ranking GOP member of the important Appropriations II Committee ana has served on numerous other committees and commissions during his decade in the General Assembly. Prior to his election to the Senate, Senator Schaffer served as McHenry County Auditor.
