NOVEMBER 2,1983 Lakemoor/Lilymoor: COMMUNITY RESPONDS TO NEW McHENRY NUNDA LIBRARY The goal of the various trustees of the McHenry Nunda Public Library District had always been to have a library building belonging to the people of the district. This was finally achieved when the first patrons at the new location, Prudence Huffman and Hedie Foss, arrived at 813 W. Route 120 after 2 p.m. Oct. 18. Friday, Oct. 14 found Michael Douglass, Eagle Scout aspirant, reporting to librarian Margaret Karas at the McHenry Nunda Library on Lily Lake Rd.and Columbus Dr.to begin the physical activity involved in moving some 6,000 books and equipment approximately two thirds of a mile north to the new library building on Route 120. By the time all the boxes providied by board president Frank Colomer were filled with onlv a small portion of theJoooksto be moved, Michael realized the work and time that was going to be needed to accomplish the task which would end with all the books on the new shelving in their new home. Lorry Deeke drove the truck in the morning and boxes in order. added his strength in the afternoon. Saturday night left the group very tired with more hauling to be done Sunday. The last books and furnishings were removed from 809 W. The card on the flowers sent by board president Frank Colomer to the library on Tuesday, so aptly put it: "We made it". An invitation is open to all to see and use the vital growing addition to our area's learning, entertainment and self-improvement center. FISH COLLECTION Starting Nov. 2, the Lakemoor Village Hall will be a collection depot for donations to FISH, the organization which gives instant aid to people with problems. Non-perishable food items and monetarv donations will be accepted by Donna Hall Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Helping others in a time of extreme need is the object of FISH. Your help is needed to continue their program. INVESTITURE brownie Troop 413, meeting at Hilltop School, was increased by 10 new Brownies Oct. 24. Eleven older Brownies walked the new members up for indoctrination at the investiture. After the pinning, the older Brownies recited the 10 by-laws of the Girl Scouts and present! the slogan. After the ^ program, refreshments were served to the Brownies and their pleased parents, Dottie Mentzer and co-leader Audrey Kostuch now have 21 Brownies in their troop 413. Ibey are providing a much needed and fulfilling service to the girl children in the area. Chapel Hill Road, McHenry. Jack Segel, of McHenry, called the McHenry County Sheriff's Police when he discovered the theft after playing golf Oct. 27. McHenry Police are investigating the theft of carpentry tools from a vehicle that occurred this past weekend. The tools, valued at $1,600, were stolen from a truck parked at the Garden Quarter apartments. The theft was reported Qct. 28. Several autos were broken into at Europa Motors, 2414 W. Route 120, McHenry, and stereo equipment stolen. Thieves also removed a section of glass from the garage door and stole about $17 from a cash register. Resident in art fair!
