A member of the Chamber for four years, Lane takes charge of Trade Fair committee meetings and ensures that all the necessary preparations have been com­ pleted. Lane is a member of the Chamber finance committee and a charter member of Crime Stop­ pers. Previous years of service have seen Lane involved as co- chairman of the Trade Fair and electrical chairman as well. Lane assisted recently in the ex­ pansion of Waukegan airport and wholeheartedly supports the crea­ tion of a county airport. "The McHenry County study be­ ing done for such an airport to ser­ vice McHenry hopefully will prove need because it would become a great asset for economic develop­ ment in this county," Lane said. His interests go beyond the Chamber, flying and work. He has been a member of the McHenry Kiwanis Club for four years and treasurer for one. A six-year member of Masonic Lodge 158, he was Worshipful Master in 1984. He is married and the father of two children, and has one grandchild. Lane was a familiar figure on the Fiesta Days scene, serving as ice and pop chairman in 1984. The Chamber Retail Com­ mittee is a group that consistently received Lane's participation and assistance while he was co-owner of McHenry Favorite Sports. Although he is no longer in retail­ ing, he remains an active member in the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce. Lane's new business is really not new. As the sole owner of Lane and Associates, he buys, recondi­ tions and sells printing equipment specializiing in that used in manufacturing automatic carbon printed forms. Lane and Associates services the United States, Canada and Mexico. He is also the owner of Waukegan Aero Operations, which services airplanes, pro­ vides hangar space, tie down space and service work for private airplanes at Waukegan airport. It is a labor of love because, as a private pilot, the im­ portance of airports to, our Holding the 1984 titles of Miss McHenry and Miss McHenry County, Heide Bender be on hand to greet visitors to the McHenry's 1985 Trade Fair, March 1-3 at Parkland School. In her freshman year, Miss Bender is returning from Cornell College (Iowa) to take part in the Trade Fair. In addition to her studies, she enjoys such hobbies and pastimes as music, drama, skiing, horseback riding, aerobics and reading. As she greets the many fairgoers, she will find it easy to make each guest feel comfortable as a result of her broad range of knowledge and interest. Miss Bender recently returned from Springfield where she represented the city and the coun­ ty in the Miss Illinois State Fair contest. Look for her friendly, warm smile as you enter the Trade Fair on March 1-3.
