APRIL 5.1965 Sports Fishing show planned in Elgin ELGIN - Fishermen, if you want to start catching more fish from our local lakes and rivers this season, then you won't want to miss the Super Show of Fishing. Headlining the bill will be Dan Gapen, who is recogninzed as the number one river fisherman in America. • Many local fisherman are discovering that Illinois has some ex cellent river fishing available right in their own backyards, and Gapen has fished them all. He will give you the how-to, where-to and when-to, secrets that should make you a successful river fisherman. Back by popular demand will be Midwest Outdoors editor Ray Hansen. Ray will once again discuss two of Illinois' most popular bodies of water, tne Chain O' Lakes, and Shabbona Lake. Rounding out this pro line up will be Kankakee River expert Ed Mullady. There will also be discussions about tackle, fishing guides, charters and resorts. The Super Show of Fisl will be held Sunday, Ap: 14, at the Blue Moon Con vention Center in Elgin. Classified 344-4800 Raceway sets for season LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Tne Lake Geneva Raceway will begin its 20th season of oval track stock car racing on Saturday, April 13. The facility, which was original ly constructed as a drag strip began stock car racing on June 2, 1966. The 20th season will be featur ing a new hobby stock car class, which will bring auto racing down to an affordable level. Along with .the new hobby car division, the late models will be back in force. Four-time track champion Roger Otto of Burl ington, who captured his fourth ti tle during the final night of racing in the 1984 season, will be return-: ing to defend his title against the; best limited late model drivers in' Wisconsin. Bob Brownell of Crystal Lake, < who finished third in 1964 behind! Otto and Jerry Straube, will be; challenging Otto for the crown in a • new Firebird. Softball marathon May 4-5 WOODSTOCK - Spring is just around the corner, so now is the time to start getting a team together for the 1985 Easter Seal Softball marathon, May 4-5 at Petersen Parte in McHenry. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising teams and individuals.
