It was held Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at Parkland College, Champaign- Urbana, HL Dawn Miller 385-4901 Mitch qualifies for the 10,000 meter nationals to be held in San Angelo, Tex., but is training for the National Marathon Championship for Junior Colleges to be held, June 15, at Dowagiac, Mi. Congratulations Mitch. We are all very proud of your ac­ complishments. BRIDAL SHOWER A surprise bridal shower for Sandy Straumann was given Saturday, May 4, in the home of Val Klapperich. Twenty guests enjoyed a buffet luncheon featuring chicken casserole, Italian beef, seven-layer salad, Chappaquidick salad, dream- sicle and mello yellow jellos, fruit salad and a raw vegetable tray. For dessert, a two-layer yellow and chocolate cake, decorated by Jeanette Matchen, was served. Sandy received beautiful gifts, one in particular which will always be treasured, a handmade counted cross stitch sampler made by the groom's mother, Diane Weinburg. Sandy and Jeff Speciale will be wed Junfe 15, at Christ the King Church. We wish them all the rest. CONDOLENCES We wish to express our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lil Hansen. She died suddenly Saturday, May 4, at home. Lil and her family were residents of the village for many years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. I am also sorry to report that another of our lovely citizens passed away. Cecelia (Mickey) Swedberg, age 85, passed away May 7, in the Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake. She had been a member of the Ladies of the Lake for many years. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. She also will be missed by the many people who knew her. Also, just a reminder, all many boats launched off the shore of our lake must display a boat sticker. If you have not rented a boat post, you must carry your boat home each time it is used. It cannot be left down at the beach without a boat post or it will be towed away. \ Don't forget to use the pink guest passes this year. If a car does not have a current village vehicle sticker on it and it is your guest, they must display the pink guest pass in the win­ dow or they will be ticketed. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday wishes for this week go to Mae Aubin, celebrating her special day May 19; and Don Nelson will toast in another year May 20. May all your wishes come true. ANNIVERSARIES Our anniversary couple for this week is Brian and Rosalie Hancock, sharing 17 years of marriage May 18. We wish them many more years of happiness. Con- 8 p.i ider residents invited to Township okays bid for fencing i • - The Mc Henry Township Board voted to accept a $4,763 bid from R & R Custom Fence Builders, Wonder Lake, to build a fence along the west side of the township office property. The board added a condition that the bid only be accepted if R & R's I beam post fence matches the gage of the front fence already standing.
