Members of the i 1 } wv North Shore women have been following closely the reports of the various meetings of the National Woman Suffrage association which was held in Chicago these last few days. A plea for the eight hour working day for men and women alike, for suffrage fixed by law on a basis of educational requirements, and for the staunch support of the ideals and principles of American- ism, was made Tuesday night by Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt before an assemblage at Orchestra Hall, Chi- cago. It was in the nature of a farewell address to the members of the Na- tional American Woman Suffrage as- sociation, which is passing out of existence. Mrs. Catt, who has been its leader since 1916, leaves within a month's time to preside at the in- ternational suffrage convention, which meets in Spain. It was the keynote of the message which all the suffrage leaders, assembled on the platform last night, are expected to carry back to the 20,000,000 women who will be given the right to vote when the federal suffrage amend- ment is finally ratified. Mrs. Catt urged her hearers to affiliate at once with the political parties, but cautioned them against | "stand pat" politics, and the role of followers in the political party. "Some have said an eight hour law for women is asking too much. Then let us make it an eight hour law for men and women together. Is there any one today who doubts that the eight hour day is coming all around the wrold?" Poe "Legislation banning alcohol in medicine is one of the most import- ant problems of the future for the W. C. T. The tones are built up and projected from this chamber--full. round, true. Metallic harshness is gone. Another great feature of The Brunswick Method of Reproduction is the Ultona. By a turn of the hand, this simple device presents the proper needle and dia- phragm to any make of record. It enables you to select your records from the lists of all makers. We shall be glad to play The Brunswick for you and explain its remarkable methodof reproducing and projecting musical tones.
