The Delta Gamma sorority of Northwestern university has been granted the exclusive cafe privileges of the Community Golf clubhouse for the season. The announcement fol- lowed on the heels of the report by William IL. Goodwin, chairman of the house of committee that the pictures- que Northmoor retreat had been taken over by the community associ- ation. The clubhouse will be maintained as a tearoom and will be opened not only to members of the association, but to the public. An attractive sign at the gatepost will tell passersby that the "Anchor Inn" will welcome them to its hospitable walls. Appe- tizing luncheons will be served dur- ing the day and it is also being planned by the sorority to have danc- ing and refreshments during the eve- ning. The clubhouse will be rented out for evening parties to the public and the sorority will have all the re- freshment privileges of the golf course, including the soft drinks at both starting houses. The proceeds of their endeavor will be added to their building fund for a new chapter house in Evanston. Although the golf and tennis priv- ileges of the club will be confined to Evanston and Wilmette residents, "Anchor Inn" will be open to anyone. Many of the most public-spirited women of the north shore are en- thusiastic over the enterprise and are making elaborate preparations for the refurnishing and decoratingof the clubhouse prior to its opening on May 2. Mrs. Herbert Pope, general chair- man of the Delta Gamma sorority, will be in charge of the arrangements. Assisting her is the business man- ager, Mrs. Walter S. Vose and Miss Catherine Jenkins, assistant manager. Anchor Inn will be the new nine- teenth hole of the community golf links and will be one of the attrac- tive features of the summer in con- nection with the activities of the club. The guardianship of children and unification of laws concerning women was dealt with by Mrs. Catharine Waugh McCulloch in her address made before the first conference of the second annual convention of the National League of Women Voters, being held at Cleveland, O., on April 11. Mrs. McCulloch has drawn up a suggestion for a model guardianship law, which she presented at the con- ference, and under which the wife and husband would be joint natural guardians of their minor children un- til the death of either parent, when guardianship would revert to the surviving parent. 0 or legal separation the state might award the guardianship to either parent. ; Mrs. McCulloch will also take up the subject of uniform laws concern- ing women.
