Kin- ney, who, in the work-a-day world, is supervisor of manual training in the Winnetka Public Schools, and a group of Winnetka boys, are sailing the deep on the Great Lakes these days and having a great time of it, too. The "crew" embarked from Wilmette harbor several days ago and negotiated the distance to Stur- geon Bay, following the Wisconsin shore line, in 28 hours. But read Skipper Kinney's log notes append- ing and employ your imagination at will. Sturgeon Bay, Wis.,, En route to Camp Ah-wee-nee-tah, on the Island of Adventure. 'We arrived here last evening (Tuesday) making the run from Winnetka in 28 hours, nine of which we were running in a very dense fog which 'necessitated frequent soundings. The first half of the trip we ran irfto frequent squalls and rainstorms but from Sheboygan north the weather has been remark- ably fine and clear. Everyone in the party is in high spirits. The boys have been taking lessons in knot tie- ing from Capt. W. W. Eger, who has been our guest on the cruise. Capt. Eger has commanded some of the largest ships on the lakes and his experiences have furnished an un- limited source of interest and en- jovment to all of us. 'We leave fpr the (Ah-wee-nee-tah on Chambers Island) in an hour, when we shall take possession of the island in the name of the "spirit of adventure" we call it the "island of adventure" and always take possession with appro- priate ceremonies. "The Winnetka boys accompanying us are, Dan Kohlsaat, second mate 'of the "Dream Girl"; Bob Atwood, third mate; Webster Jackson, Jack Reasner, John Jewell, Stanwood Thompson, Alfred Alschuler, Jack Hunter and Leon Alschuler. REALTORS ENJOY BASEBALL, DINNER AND SOME DANCING Members of the North Shore Real Estate board enjoyed the first An- nual Outing of the organization, Wed- nesday afternoon, when they packed into a fleet of automobiles and drove to Cub's ball park at Addison and Sheffield avenues. Chicago. The ball game "twixt the Cubs and the Pirates of Pittsburg provided the first event of the outing program. After the ball game the fleet of realtors proceeded to the Marigold Gardens nearby for a sumptuous din- ner and a session of dancing in the cool of the evening. Representation at the first outing was reported as approximately 100 per cent of the board memherchin HIS OWN SLEUTH William Quinn, 909 Willow street, reported to the police the theft of his bicycle last Sunday from Skokie Playfield. Quinn then turned sleuth and soon found the wheel in the pos- session of a nine year old Winnetka boy who had stolen it from the park. The youthful thief was not pros- scuted. REMARKABLE BARGAINS ARE FOUND IN THE "ADS" [ Social Bappenings | North shore people wht recently subscribed to the fund for the Young Woman's Christian Association of Chicago, will be interested in know- ing that the actual fund obtained was $239,000. The dedicatory exercises of Hoover Hall, the new recreation building at Forest Beach Camp, Mich., the summer camp of the Y. W. C. A., will be held the afternoon of July 2. ' Miss Harriet Plowman of 421 Lin- den avenue, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. George Orr recently, on their trip to Loos Angeles, Cal. Miss Plow- man will spend the summer with her grandmother there, returning in time for the opening of high school, and the Orr family will spend the sum- mer in southern California. Bn Mrs. Franc L. Paul of 340 Walnut street is giving a birthday party this afternoon on the lawn surrounding her home, in honor of her small daughter, Merilyne. There will be twenty-four little guests in attend- ance, of 937. Gordon Terrace have rented their home for the summer months, to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Crilly of Chi- cago, and will leave within a fort- night or so to spend several weeks on a farm in Iowa. Mrs. Crilly is a sister of Mrs. George F. Suker, 1139 Oakley avenue. ---- The State Board; of the Illinois Federation of Woman's Clubs will hold a meeting in Chicago on July 6, at which time, the organization of the Federation will then be complet- ed, and different department chair- men appointed. -- A jolly crowd of twenty friends of Mr. and Mrs. Carleton J. Holdredge of Chicago, motored out to Winnet- ka Thursday afternoon, where they had a corn roast and picnic supper on the beach. ---- Miss Dorothy Magie and her moth- er, Mrs. Frank Ogden Magie, have left for New Hampshire to spend the summer. Miss Magie was a debu- tante of last fall. ---- Mrs. E. P. Price and family of 699 Walden road, are leaving next Thursday for Spring Lake, Mich, where they have taken a cottage for the summer. 2 BR Dr. and Mrs. Charles M.
