Beach, chairman of the board of managers of the Na- tional School for Commercial Secre taries, which meets at Northwestern university August 21, to September 2, 125 secretaries from all parts of the nation have already enrolled and ad- ditional enrolments are being receiv- ed daily. Among the visitors this year will be a number of women secretaries who desire to get additional informa- tion regarding their jobs and the best way to make good at same. Among the women secretaries are the follow- ing: Miss Laura B. Swensen, Omaha Chamber of Commerce; Miss Edythe M. Guffy, Philadelphia; Miss Agnes W. Vaille, Denver Civic and Commercial Association; Miss Kathleen M. Knight, Brockton, Mass. Some of the well-known secretaries in the chambers of commerce of the country are also coming, Mr. Beach states. Among them will be S. Christy Mead, secretary of the Merchants' As- sociation of New York; Harvey T. Hill, T. R. Moss and F. A. Suthers of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Chi- cago; R. H. Faxon, secretary of the Mississippi Valley Association, St. Louis; Robert L. Schirmer, secretary of the Milwaukee Junior Association of Commerce; A. D. MacMillan, Ameri- can City Bureau, New York City and secretaries from Omaha, Des Moines, Decatur, Joliet, Mason City, Iowa, Kansas City, South Bend, and scores of other equally important commerce centers of all parts of the country, will be present. This is to be the second session of the school but an enlarged program of education and recreations is being) developed at Northwestern university | for the visitors of whom 300 or more are expected, Some of the new sub- jects in the fundamental courses this year will be journalism, business law, development of American business and municipal government. Alertness of Police Cuts Down Number of Speeders Speeders have apparently become more cautious about going through Winnetka at a high rate of speed, for only five were arrested and fined by Judge B. A. Nelson in the past week. Henry Mitchell, Chicago, was fined $8 and costs, speeding; Fred Camp- bell, LaGrange, $10 and costs, speed- ing; William Athens, Jr., Chicago, $15 and costs, speeding; Kellog Gary, Glencoe, $10 and costs, speeding. Hayden Worthington, Chicago, was fined $5 and costs for driving with a fictitious license plate. To Hear India Mission Worker at Local Church Services at the First Scandinavian Evangelical church on west Elm street this Sunday will be at 8 o'clock in the evening when the pastor will preach on the subject "Why Some Are Not Saved." There will be the customary services at the church Wednesday evening at 8:15 o'clock when Paul Hagberg, a missionary to India, will give a lecture. Mr. Hagberg has been a missionary to India for twenty-six years. The church Bible class meets Thurs- day evening at £:30 o'clock. THE WAY OF ETC.
