Evans, athletic Pouloplos Brothers, Props. director, that golf has been placed among the regularly recognized col- lege sports at that institution and the "N" will be awarded in golf at the close of the season the same as it goes to baseball, basketball and the players at other games. Director Evans has engaged J. B. Sloane, professional golf player and coach, to teach North- western men ana women students the fine points of the game. Coach Sloane is about to start work and has an indoor golf cage erected at Patten gym on the ground floor. The indica- tions now are that golf will have about 100 Purple students making ready this winter for the big doings to come next spring and summer. Practice started Tuesday, January 23, and Coach Sloane is enthusiastic. He says that many Northwestern stu- dents because of previous golfing ex- perience are in shape to perfect them- selves to an unusual degree at the grand old game. "Northwestern is well situated for golfing," he added. "Once we get our classes going and spring weather comes along, we can have the stu- dents out on some green playing a regular game. Evanston has many golfing grounds in its vicinity and students should have no difficulty in obtaining practice without sacrifice to their scholastic work. We have some excellent . material here and Northwestern will be heard from later." The North Shore Catholic Woman's League will meet Thursday, February 1, at the Winnetka Woman's club. Mrs. J. A.
