Skokie Cagers Top Boys From Country Day School Skokie school heavyweight basket- ball teams scored a double victory over their North Shore Country Day School opponents last week. Under the leadership of Captain Neubacher, the Skokie Sioux defeated the N. S. Sharks to the tune of 27 to 21 in a close game. The other victory was scored when the Skokie Senecas, led by Captain Affeldt squeezed a 17 to 14 win from the N. S. Pirates. In the lightweight division Skokie was forced to share the honors with the Country Day teams. The N. S. Lynx sent the Skokie Swallows down to a 19 to 17 defeat, but the Skokie Sagamores came out on the big end of a 29 to 2 game with the N. S. Wolves. The Skokie Swallows, vic- tors over the N. S. Lynx, were in turn defeated by the Skokie Stags 15 to 2. Skokie girls' team were also busy during the week. The Flashes and the Savages beat the Squaws and the Panthers, respectively, by scores of 19 to 12 and 12 to 10. The Savages were in turn defeated by the Squaws by an 8 to 6 score. Slight Lull In Building Permits During This Week An apparent temporary lull in build- ing construction in Winnetka was evident this week when only four per- mits for new buildings were issued by Erwin Dames, superintendent of pub- lic works. The total value of the pro- posed structures will not exceed $4,- 800. it was estimated The largest permit of the werk was granted to J. A. Odh who was auth- orized to ed a new one-story brick shop at an estimated cost of $2,500. The new shop will be located at 933 Linden avenue. B. T. McGiven re- ceived a grant to add a two-story ad- dition to his house at 865 Pine street. The addition will cost $1,800. O. W. Jurgens will alter his residence at 851 Spruce street, at a cost of $300. A permit for the construction of a rpivate garage was issued to C. L. Van Buskirk, 1096 Spruce street.
