Coming March 26, is "Tess of the Storm Country," the remarkable Mary Pickford rejuvenation of the early film success. Music at the New Evanston continues an important feature at every perform- ance. James Kozak and his accomplished orchestra has won a place with north The New Evanston | shore music lovers and already is con- sidered a north shore "institution." Fell In Love With Mary; Told Her on Nuptial Day A love story never before revealed --the love of the late George Loane Tucker for Mary Pickford--is re- counted in the March issue of Photo- play Magazine, in a somewhat unusu- al collection of "Untold Love Stories of 'the Stars." He fell in love with her when he was her leading man. But he went away, still afraid to tell her that he loved her. Then he dashed across the continent to beg her to become his wife, only to find that she had been married the day before to another man, That is the story of George Loane Tucker's youthful love and Mary Pickford. The great director of "The Miracle Man" who died last year was only a a good looking young actor then. And Mary was a little girl with golden curls untouched by the fame that sur- rounds her today. She and Tucker played together in a few crude, primitive pictures and he fell madly in love with her. But he left without daring to make a de- claration. Small Town Players in Cast of 'Main Street' The cast of "Main Street," a pic- turization of Sinclair Lewis' novel, is full of small town screen players. For instance, Monte Blue, who plays the role of Dr. Kennicott, hails from In- diana; Florence Vidor, as Carol, comes form a small town near Hous- ton, Texas; Harry Beaumont, the di- rector, was born in Abilene, Kansas; and Julien Josephson, who adapted the novel, comes from Rosburg, Ore- gon. The picture is being made at the Warner Brothers' studios in Los Angeles. No wonder a director swears some- times. In filming "Scars of Jealousy" an inconvenient snow storm had to be removed from a large part of a mountain before work could proceed "The Prisoner of Zenda," one of the biggest plays of the past season cost over $1,000,000 to produce.
